A late-Victorian lodge, once muddled by time, restored to its original balance. Render refreshed, details reinstated, slate and lead set just so. Then a new chapter: a garden room of glass and timber opening wide to the trees, light pouring in from every side. Old bones. Fresh air. A house breathing beautifully again. Shortlisted for kitchen design over £100,000 award in the 2025 International Design & Architecture Awards 2025 I was invited to photograph this relaxing space created by @maweswood I had visited this Victorian home a few years earlier, photographing a different room for someone else, at the time I did get to see the original kitchen, my client Maweswood did a wonderful job with this space which made it (as always) a pleasure to then capture. #kitchensofinstagram #quooker #bespokekitchen #kitchenphotoshoot #architecturalphotographer

On the eve of revisiting @rencraftkitchens four-storey showroom, I’m really looking forward to photographing and filming their latest displays. They continue to create beautiful spaces that are all distinct, yet flow seamlessly together under one roof. A key part of my role is respecting the individuality of each style through thoughtful lighting and angles. Every space is different, but just like the showroom itself, the final images need to flow together as a collection, working as a cohesive set both online and in print. I’m also proud that this work formed part of Rencraft’s entry when they won Kitchen Showroom of the Year at the @kbbreview Retail & Design Awards. #kitchensofinstagram #kitchendesignideas #interiorphotography #architecturalphotographer #bespokekitchendesign

Photographed on a project with @flowerkittle_architects , who have created a beautiful space that carries you seamlessly from outside to in. Through a calm, earthy palette and complementary materials, the architecture makes great use of height to blanket the room with natural light, whilst the large glass frames greens and blues from the surrounding countryside. It was such a calming place to work that day and I’m sure live in. #countryhousestyle #surreyarchitects #kitchensofinstagram #architecturalphotographer #countryliving

Part of a very enjoyable days shoot catching the light as the world in this frame turned from daytime to evening. Shots like this involve a lot of waiting for a magical ten minute window when everything happens. It’s a very peaceful part of my work. In the waiting I usually feel very present and calm, listening, taking in the environment. It’s nice to create moments like this to just stand quietly, appreciating the world and getting ready to pounce on the shot when it’s finally time. #countryhomes #uniquehomes #architecturalphotography #granddesigns #archdaily

Ah Guildford.. I grew up in, explored what seemed like every inch of this town as a teenager, I met my wife here, and both my children were born at the royal surrey, No matter where I might move to, Guildford will always be home for me, which is what added extra magic to this already wonderful shoot with @stedmanblower of one of their projects they were kind enough to invite me to. What I love about their work is the consistency and coherence in the way their rooms flow. I thought this space was a particularly good example of this. #architecturalphotographer #guildfordkitchens #interiorinspo #heritagearchitecture #archdaily

Thinking about a kitchen as it’s whole becoming greater, and more valuable because of the interaction and synergy of its parts, and then in turn how I can light the elements in a way that complements the tones and ties the space with a look. A house with a past and a very good future. A few glimpses of a project we’re immensely proud of. This Grade II listed house was never about reinvention for reinvention’s sake. Instead, it was about revealing what was already there, and discovering a relationship with the garden that had long been waiting to be restored. The former ballroom now sits at the heart of the home as a kitchen, opening onto the landscape and setting the rhythm of everyday life. Scroll on for a few reminders of where it all began. Ardington House was built during the early 18th-century Baroque period that reshaped British architecture, the same era that produced landmarks such as Blenheim Palace and St Paul’s Cathedral. My role here was to capture some respectfully renovated elements of music room by @maweswood . The focus was on allowing the dark, rich wood tones and subtle interior lighting to sit in balance with one another, so the room reads as a whole rather than a collection of details. The flow of an image comes not from any single element, but from how colour, tone and light work together to create depth, cohesion and a sense of place, where we are, and why this room exists. #architecturalphotographer #countryhomes #heritagedesign #interiorphotography #englishhome

The Reserve, photographed for @vedahomes @theprivateofficere @surreyhillsprime This home was shot on a very bright, calm autumn afternoon, with all interior lighting in use. Situations like this are about restraint rather than control, allowing natural light, artificial light, and colour to sit together without one dominating the space. My approach is always to understand the character of the light first, then shape it gently so the space feels balanced, calm, and believable. Nothing forced, nothing over-lit, nothing shouting for attention. Working tethered allows me to judge tone, colour, and consistency as the shoot unfolds, so the final set reads as a quiet, coherent narrative rather than a collection of individual images. #kitchensofinstagram #countryhomes #luxuryhomes #architecturalphotographer

I was invited to photograph and film the studio of one of the directors of @cinemaluxeltd Darren Barker. It’s a beautifully designed and built compact space, but what really love is the selection of colour in the design. There’s a flo from the darker tone of the wood and sofa to the mid tones of the wall with elements then picked out with more golden tones that whilst provide contrast, still sit within a saturation value that’s quite neutral and so ties everything together. #interiorphotography #countryhomes #homerecordingstudio #propertyphotographer #interiordesign
