Am absolutely devastated to hear of the passing of Jackie Bristow, the legendary dance teacher of The Arts Educational Schools. Her teaching style was old school, the warmups relentless, ātough loveā was very much the order of the day- but the love was very real. I was 18, out of my depth and starting to come apart at the seams when Jackie was my form tutor. She saw straight away I struggling, and her advice, care and frequent colourful insult is something I will treasure always. If you saw Ballet Shoes- she was my Madame Fidolia. I wouldnāt be here without her. Thank you for everything , Jackie. Iām sure youāre riding a horse right now smoking a ciggie and shouting at the archangels to āPOINT YOUR FUCKING TOES!

And this is happening! Bonkers scenes as my 1996 self realised I might meet Placebo. This is going to be such a crazy show, and my first over at Stratford Upon Avon. šAmazing cast, company and creative team on this, creating a dreamy, horrific vaudeville Chicago. And after ballet shoes- not a leotard in sight. I checked.

Also had the privilege of slipping into the shoes of the ferociously talented @jussysal for a few shows, playing the mental multi role of Great Uncle Matthew/Madame Fidolia/Mr French/Mr Sholsky and Madame Manoff. From pant wetting terror to purest joy, I cannot thank our company enough for their love, trust and support while I struggled with some of the most crazy quick changes. Also big big love to our costume and WHAM teams who are truly the best in the business.

After five months, Ballet Shoes at the @nationaltheatre comes to a close today. Performing on the Olivier stage has been a dream of mine for thirty years, now fulfilled. Could not have wished for a more beautiful, joyous group of incredibly talented beings to have done this with. Thanks to @kendallfeaver for her wonderful words, @katyrudd1 and @jasmineteozwf for their tender shepherding, @nationaltheatre and @martin_poile for their trust, and all our incredible audiences who gave us āthe honour of their timeā. What a fun ride, without a trigger warning in sight.
