The former Charlton Athletic manager, who led the club to a Premier League return and went on to secure their highest-ever top-flight finish (7th), is now part of the Charlton Athletic Talent ID tour.
Currently in KZN with Mark Fish, Curbishley is giving local players a rare chance to be seen, coached, and assessed by a true Premier League figure.

The Charlton Athletic South Africa Talent ID Tour in partnership with The Football Union & The Mark Fish Foundation continued tonight with another high performance training clinic, followed by a coach education workshop attended by over 20 local coaches. 🇿🇦🏴
From player development sessions on the pitch to in-depth discussions off it, the programme continues to create opportunities for both players and coaches to learn directly from UEFA licensed Charlton Athletic staff.
A massive thank you to all the players, coaches and parents who continue to support the project and help us grow the game together.

Top level conversations, knowledge sharing and sessions led by coaches who have worked for decades inside the professional game. Massive privilege for our players and local coaches to spend time on the field with the Charlton Athletic staff and South African legend Mark Fish.
From academy methodology and session detail to player management and standards, this week is about bringing real football experience directly onto the training ground.

This is where it starts.
The Charlton Athletic Talent ID Tour has been more than just training sessions. It’s the beginning of a long-term pathway between The Mark Fish Foundation, The Football Union and Charlton Athletic to identify, develop, and support the next generation of players.
Together we’re building a system. An opportunity for players to be trained by UEFA A licensed coaches on home soil with a real Charlton Academy environment.
South Africa has done it before. Mark Fish came through Charlton and made his mark at the highest level. That’s the standard. That’s the vision.
Now it’s about finding the next one.
