I hope Mother Nature is getting all this serious weather out of her system...cause pretty soon I got places to be & things to do.
Snowed in with Leo this morning, listening to Bill Morrissey & the wind howling outside.
Spring Green comes out in a little less than two weeks, tour starts shortly thereafter. Dates added in Nashville, Fort Atkinson WI & the Chicago area. Shovel out & come find me!
“Spring Green” by Mark Erelli has been out for one week! It’s the title track from his upcoming album; and earlier this year he stopped by TME to play it live on one of our Atkin 13-fret L36 Customs. TME’s @a.sternmusic accompanies Mark (on another Atkin)—the full video is available at the YouTube link in our bio (and it’s also in our IG story).

I am very proud to announce that my 14th studio album SPRING GREEN will be released on March 6th, 2026 & the title track is available to stream (almost) everywhere this Friday, Dec 5! We are also announcing the album release tour today—dates listed below. The tour will be on sale to the general public on Friday, but I hope you'll sign up for the pre-sale at the link in my bio for first access.
I'm trying something a little different with this album release. I will have much more to say about that over the coming weeks, but for now:
SPRING GREEN is a subtle testament to the radical act of endurance. These 11 new songs—half of which were co-written with close friends—remind us to stay tender, to take the time for rejuvenation in the company of community. I hope we can celebrate this community together at lots of upcoming album release tour dates, listed below.
Songs inherently seek to communicate, to collapse the distances between us by fostering empathy & compassion. I am asking you to be an active, enthusiastic ambassador for my music, to help amplify my message both on social media & in your real world interactions: tell the world what you’re listening to & buy a copy for a friend.
Ticket Pre-Sale: Thursday, Dec 4 at 10AM ET (sign up in bio)
On Sale to the Public: Friday, Dec 5 at 10AM ET

A sizable part of the @clubpassim community came together to honor @smithtastic1970 30 years at the venue (thus far). I had the most amazing time celebrating friends & this unicorn of a musical ecosystem we've built together. All respect to the ones who came before, but our job now is honor the history of the club by writing new chapters & making new history. Last night was one for the books, music directed by @drzachariah & emceed by @rosecousins . I didn't take my phone out all night, so thanks to @fxrn for capturing a few moments.
By sheer dumb luck, when I first tried to get gigs back in Boston in the mid 90s, the only place that would book me was @clubpassim . A new staff member had started around then & as he took over more of the booking, he connected me to the singer/songwriters & musicians that would remain my community 30
years later. That new guy at Passim was Matt Smith.
Matt has devoted a career to fostering, building & growing the Boston folk community. Now members of that community from far & wide will celebrate Matt's 30 years (& counting) at the club. I will be a very small part of this insanely stacked bill, but you should come because nights represent the best of who we are & what we do for each other, artists & audiences alike. I cannot wait to be with you all & o feel we need nights like this now more than ever.
Happy Mother's Day to all!
Heading home after the final Spring Green shows, a little tired & infinitely grateful to the people in my life who make it possible for to do what I do. A heartfelt thanks to my wonderful band, especially @a.sternmusic who drove me around for most of it. Thanks to everyone who bought tickets, got a sitter, found parking & made these shows so special. The shows are way better when you show up (don't ask me how I know).
Above all, thanks to @pollyerelli , one of the moms in my life that I'm celebrating today. Her patience, love & support are legendary. Nothing works without her.
"Spring Green: A Better World Is Possible" is a joint performance, reading & conversation with @markerelli & @meerasub during The @wbur Fest at CitySpace in Boston on Sat May 30! Erelli's new record & Subramanian's new graphic novel explore the intersection between hope, turbulent times & leaning in to community & the natural world for inspiration on how to live. Tickets available now at WBUR.org, please join us for this special joint appearance!
My buddy & songwriting partner @dintychild filled a last-minute cancellation @clubpassim last night with an entire evening of sing alongs. He projected the lyrics onstage & conducted the crowd, all backed up by a killer 3-piece band. These weren't folk & rock standards we were all belting out, but songs from Dinty's own catalog. It was as beautifully inclusive & emotionally cathartic as any night I've ever spent at Passim (& I've many to compare it to). I sang myself hoarse adding my harmony parts from the back of the room, with a giant smile on my face.
I just sent out my gazillionth monthly newsletter. I've been Substack & Patreon, all rolled into one, since the previous century. This month is an essay on celebrating incremental progress & little victories, annotated tour dates in the Midwest & northeast, a free download of an unreleased song called "Spring'll Do The Rest" & more. Sign up for my newsletter on my website & I send you one email a month until one or the other of us dies.
I'm on social media out of some perceived benefit from my compulsory presence, but (increasingly) this is not a place I want to be at all. I am very happy putting all the thought & care into my monthly newsletters, it feels human-scales & real. If you reply to them, it goes to me & I almost always email back. No doomscrolling in the mix, ever.
Just a gentle reminder that it wasn't always (& doesn't forever have to be) like this.
A week from today I'll be playing @the_ark_ann_arbor , but this morning starts off like most others when I'm home...at Middlesex Fells' The Sheepfold.
I love the birds this time of year, though I'm not so great at recognizing the calls. That's where this Merlin app comes in. I love using it to listen & help me identify what I'm hearing. Most apps & stuff in this pocket computer are useless, but I love me some Merlin!
