The Wasp Trap has sold 100,000 copies in English! An enormous thank you if you’re one of that 100,000 (and if you’re not, why not?!). I took a gamble changing publishers and moving from digital-first publishing back to traditional but, thanks to Penguin Michael Joseph in the UK, Atria in the US and Random House in Canada, it’s all worked out. My first Sunday Times bestseller, first New York Times review, first Walmart book of the month, first time walking into bookshops on both sides of the Atlantic and seeing something I wrote on the shelves. It’s been a very exciting year, so thank you once again if you’ve bought it, read it, reviewed or rated it, and extra gratitude if you pre-ordered it, recommended it to a friend or got your book club to read it.

OK, that’s enough gushing. I need to get on with the next book - and preparing for the impending publication of One of the Family!

Home from New York and another fantastic ThrillerFest. I attended the awards ceremony where Wasp Trap was up for best audiobook (I didn’t mind losing to Michael Robotham because his books are fantastic; in fact all the books/authors on the list are superb). Also, took part in a really entertaining, laughter-filled panel, hung out with one of my favourite people, Jennifer Hillier, and another of my new favourite people, Kit Conway, who I spent Sunday with walking around Brooklyn and visiting the amazing Books Are Magic bookshop among numerous others. Three absolutely insane days, way too much to drink and eat, but so much fun! Can’t wait to go back next year! PS the music on Insta is because on the flight home I read the excellent memoir by Hole’s Melissa Auf der Maur - recommended!

Back in New York City and another day of firsts: seeing one of my books in American stores! There are now 5 signed copies at the Mysterious Bookshop plus a couple in Barnes & Noble 5th Ave and McNally Jackson at the Rock. Last night I got to Manhattan at 8pm and headed straight to karaoke where Clare Mackintosh and I represented the UK with our rendition of Wonderwall. Also had lunch with my US editor and got my hands on the ARC of One of the Family! As always, I ā¤ļø NY.

The last year has been one author dream-come-true moment after another, and yesterday I got to tick another off my wishlist when I visited Clays in Norfolk to see my new book, One of the Family, being printed. Clays is the most amazing, impressive place: a huge factory - a dream factory, some might call it - that prints thousands of hardbacks and paperbacks every day. Chances are, most of your favourite books were printed here. I was given a tour to see where the magic happens, culminating in the personal highlight: seeing One of the Family roll off the press, the pages, cover and dust jacket printed separately then woven together into the final product. Doesn’t it look gorgeous? The pink really shines! I even wrote a special message in one copy which will be out there somewhere when the book is published on June 18 in the UK. You can pre-order a signed copy now by following the links in my bio. Give one of these beauties a home.

(It will also be on ebook and audiobook, both also available to pre-order, but today is all about the hardback!)

Want to be able to read your copy of One of the Family in peace? Need some alone time? If you pre-order my new book - coming June 18 in the UK - it will not only be signed, dedicated, doodled and stamped- but you’ll get a free exclusive door hanger! And I’ll sign that too. You will also be entered into a draw to win a Scottish hamper full of tea and sweet treats. Of course I always let Sherlock into the room with me when I’m reading… the final picture is really not representative of what it’s like in my house šŸ˜‚ Links to Booka and the Heath Bookshop in my bio!

A very special giveaway! I recently had the pleasure of interviewing one of my favourite authors, Sabine Durrant, about her fantastic new psychological thriller, Dead Heat, and Sabine has agreed to give away a signed hardback to one lucky reader. To enter, all you have to do is like this post, leave a comment then head over to @sabinedurrant and give her a follow.

Dead Heat contains all the elements of a scorching psychological thriller: a beautiful but dangerous setting, unreliable characters, toxic behaviour, dark secrets and twists galore. It’s also exquisitely written and full of sentences that make other writers weep with envy. I want to spread the word about this book and Sabine’s backlist - all of which are fantastic - hence this comp! Go add it to your TBR pile now.

Posting this for the second time because for some weird reason it turned black and white the first time! (Edit - it’s still b&w! I give up šŸ˜‚) Had a great time chatting with Dorothy Koomson and Barbara Copperthwaite at the Kings Heath Festival this morning. Thank you to everyone who came along. What better way is there to spend a Sunday morning than discussing psychopaths and the shadowy people who run the world? My next event is in Wrexham next Saturday (25th) so if you’re in North Wales come along and get a signed book and a free Magpies pen!
