De veertienjarige Arianne en Zahra zijn beste vriendinnen. Maar Arianne blijkt ongeneeslijk ziek, terwijl Zahra te horen krijgt dat ze terug moet naar Afghanistan. Arianne schrijft een brief aan de minister. Ze heeft niet lang meer, dus er komt een plekje vrij voor Zahra:
