It’s an honor to have been included in this beautiful little book, “The First Circle Archive,” alongside so many thoughtful artists whose work I’ve admired over the years. Thanks to @claudhart and @natychuk for producing it. .. for me, the key line in the rubric Claudia used when selecting the artists is “The artist embraces imagery that is expressive, figurative, and representational.” Of course, that doesn’t mean work that is conventional in any way.. The book starts with Claudia’s own story and an explanation of her motivations and methods for her selections, and the book ends with @natychuk 's eloquent explanation and elaboration on what the archive represents. I highly recommend both.. I could go on and on about Claudia’s extraordinary achievements .. but that would take another book ..

Head Wireframe-080.03 Despite the glut of AI slop, there’s a lot of artists doing interesting things in that arena.. I’d go further and say that anyone whose “day job” involves teaching others about digital art must learn as much as they can – it will only become more powerful and ever present. I, tho, am “old” and retired.. and haven’t come close to the end of all the trails I’ve been traveling, so far, in 3d art. I think, at least for now, there’s still areas where an embodied intelligence (me!) imagining my forms in 3d space, can do things that AI can’t .. take this animation. I have little doubt that if you fed it into an AI, the AI would be able to generate endless variations .. but what purely verbal prompt would have generated the image in the first place? .. in other news, we had a wonderful (but short) visit from Flourish, Nick and Trinity!.. I'm delighted to be part of the "Perspicax" pavilion - which is part of the current "The Wrong" .. the theme "perspicacity" might relate to how well one perceives and understands some phenomenon, but I took it back to the etymological roots .. having to do with vision .. so I placed the emphasis on "eyes", with a series of faces, each represented by a sequence of details zeroing in on the eye.. the pavilion also had to do with AI .. I think that, for me, AI in the visual arts is mostly a challenge .. what can I do that "AI" cannot? .. AI image generators make it trivial to create fantastically complicated pictures .. but they also cannot adequately create whatever it is that "I" want .. what "I" am .. they can only create what the machine "allows".. A big "Thank You!" to @andresmanniste , @joyceyahouda and @laurent.bouchard ! ... @perspicax_2025
