About 2 weeks ago I spontaneously signed up to run the @maratondemadrid
With a PB set last September in Berlin at 3h38min, the goal was sub 3h30min.
Prep wasn't 100% ideal and the marathon course in Madrid is hilly with warm temperatures making it a difficult place to set a new personal record.

What can I say? It was a great day for me! I woke up feeling good and race ready after visualizing the finish line for the past week.
I was speeding - pushing a 4:50min/km pace instead of 4:55min/km and I felt great.
At kilometer 26, I entered Casa de Campo and that's when people started dropping their speed left and right. I had to fight to keep a 4:55min/km and began cramping at kilometer 35 but managed to maintain the pace until the end.
Thank you to all those that supported and believed in me more than I believed in myself. I feel content and grateful for this race.
