1. First tee is inspired by my childhood favourite film- treasure planet. A film I’ve been watching again recently. Jim was and still is a point of call for all things identity, the intertwining of space and stars and classic literature always makes me want to think and draw and feel stuff. Plus the montage to I’m still here still gets me to this day

A rite, by definition, is a social custom, practice or act of convention. Acts of convention being habitual behaviour within society. I imply that trans rites are methods of adapting to the needs of one’s own self in order to survive, trans rites are searching for and discovering self acceptance, nourishing the self through expression and working to nourish the relationship between our inner and outer beings. These rites don’t just belong to trans folk, but to all human beings. Every single person deserves the right to self identity, to express themselves, to live authentically and to speak freely, so long as it causes no harm to others. That freedom of identity is as much a right as free speech, something that so much of the right is fighting for. Amongst all the divisiveness, in some ways we are fighting for similar things. Amongst them all, to be seen, heard and cared for by the forces that we depend on to survive.
