Never getting over my childhood idol retiring from the stage 😩 Congratulations to the queen of all Swan Queens on 29 years of incomparable artistry (including one last Odette/Odile so mesmerizing, words don’t do it justice). Forever grateful to have had the privilege of seeing so many of your performances over the years—and even interviewing you along the way. Thank you, @abtofficial , for having me at the most special of Swan Lake performances ✨🦢👑

Ahead of tomorrow’s premiere of Crime and Punishment, sharing my recent story for Vogue, where I spoke with choreographer Helen Pickett (as well as co-director James Bonas, composer Isobel Waller-Bridge, ABT artistic director Susan Jaffe, and principal dancer Cassie Trenary) about her creative process, the importance of collaboration, and being the first woman to choreograph a full-length ballet in American Ballet Theatre’s 85-year history. Sharing the link in my bio, and thank you to @abtofficial and everyone involved for letting me in on all the behind the scenes magic ✨ 📸: @qwharton

It’s the most wonderful time of the year — ABT’s summer season ✨ For Harper’s Bazaar, I covered all the behind-the-scenes details of their new ballet (choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon and based on Laura Esquivel’s novel), Like Water for Chocolate. Thank you @abtofficial for having me at gala to celebrate this stunning production, and if you need me for the next month, I’ll be at the Met 🤷🏻‍♀️ 📸: Marty Sohl

For Harper’s Bazaar, I spoke with makeup department head Rebecca Wachtel and hair department lead Maryann Hennings about all things beauty in Daisy Jones & The Six. Link is in my bio for the details on real-life ‘70s stars like Stevie Nicks and Anita Pallenberg who inspired the characters’ looks, the key products used on set (I will personally be stocking up on the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk and Oribe’s Thick Dry Finishing Spray), and that time Riley Keough did her own makeup during production. 😷💄💁🏻‍♀️

Last month, I got to interview Pattie Boyd in London about some of the highlights from her gorgeous new photography book, My Life In Pictures (you can read the whole thing at the link in my bio). Thank you, Pattie, for inviting me into your home, sharing your stories with me, and being even cooler than I imagined. 💗 📷: Pattie Boyd self-portrait with George Harrison in their rose garden, 1968

London told me it was okay to start celebrating Christmas before Thanksgiving (and to continue eating my weight in pasta) 🎅🏼

A happy coincidence that this feature with @nancianderson is out in @dancemagazine the same month as the VMAs. Linking to an extended version of this interview in my profile, but sharing the unedited text about that time she casually handed a massive snake to Britney Spears while dancing in the greatest VMAs performance of all time (2001 “I’m A Slave 4 U” if you needed reminding) 💁🏻‍♀️🐍✨ 📸: @michaelhigginsphoto "We all show up to rehearse for the VMA performance, and they're picking dancers for spots, and the day is going on and on and on, and I'm off to the side. They keep putting dancers in spots and calling people, and I'm going, 'Okay, any minute now I'm going to get to go dance.' And the whole day goes by, and finally, Brian [Friedman] and Wade [Robson] come up to me, and they go, 'So, we have this really great part for you. We've been waiting to tell you because we're just so excited for you.' And I'm like, 'Oh, cool,' because I'm literally thinking they forgot to put me in. And they go, 'You're going to hold the snake, and we're going to put you 15 feet in the air, and when you come down, you're going to hand it to Britney, and then you're going to come to the center of the stage and do the whole end of the choreography.' And so that's how that happened. And because they were such good salesmen, I was like, 'Yeah, that's gonna be fun!' Inside I'm like, 'That sounds really scary, I don't like snakes.' At the beginning, there's flashing lights and the sound of thunder, and I'm like 'Is the snake going to be okay, or is it going to move?' And it would move! And I'd have to kind of pick it up and shift it back. Britney actually broke out in hives after handling the snake because yeah, it's terrifying, and she was just doing a lot. In the end, it was totally fine and fun. I think it's one of those things I just muscled through."
