 Following on from the sellout success of our spooky halloween short story night AND lovely vday romance night, another small group of writers and comedians (see line-up) will once again gather in the gorgeous red velvet basement of Aces and Eights in honour of the BEST and ONLY holiday of the year – the early May bank holiday – to rapidly write (brave) and read (beautiful) some serious and/or funny fiscal tales by candlelight.

 Expect grubby deals, meetcutes at the sperm, a bank heist but inside the safe there is a smaller safe inside of which there is a smaller safe – could be anything, BANK on it being a giggle. Join us for one night only. Money talks xx

WEDNESDAY 29TH OCTOBER! Spooky and Silly Night of Horror/Comedy - In 1816, the eruption of Mount Tambora led to the “Year Without a Summer”. No sunshine, no warmth, no harvest. Mary Shelley and Percy Bysshe Shelley were visiting Lord Byron by Lake Geneva and were dead bored. Stuck inside in the gloom, Byron had the idea to have a ghost story writing competition. Mary Shelley (18) was initially stressed, but soon wrote Frankenstein. In 2025, a small number of writers and comedians will gather in the gorgeous velvet basement of Aces and Eights on “the Wednesday of Halloween” to rapidly write and read some spooky and funny tales by torchlight, trying their hardest not to pull a Mary Shelley and accidentally write a hugely influential work of gothic literature. - For traditional ghost stories, horror-comedy, comedy-horror, and some delightfully spooky surprises, join us for one night only. Wimps welcome. - Doors 7.30pm, Show Starts 8.00pm
