4 years ago today, I lost my dad, Jeremy, to blood cancer.
4 years ago today, my world changed forever.
A part of me died that day, and in its place, a new version of me began.
4 years ago, was the hardest day of my life.
I watched my mum lose her husband while she was also fighting her own battle with cancer, going through radiation at the same time. The strength in that still leaves me speechless. I love you mum.
25th April 2022 - is a date I will never forget.
Grief has often felt like a burden to society.
How we somehow condition ourselves to minimize or even hide our grief altogether, just to make others comfortable.
I’m not here to make others feel comfortable.
I’m here to say my dad’s name, Jeremy, loudly, for the rest of my life.
He is half the reason I’m so creative, half the reason I have such an eclectic music education, half the reason I have my wit, my dark humour, and my kind heart.
These past four years have been long and painful, but Dad — you would be so proud. Mum and I have taken something unimaginable and turned it into growth, courage, and a life we were once too afraid to live.
I miss you in every cell of my body.
But I’ve got this, Papa Bear.
I love you. Always. 🤍
