Marice works from her own family album - images that feel quintessential of a time, and that so many Jewish families recognise instantly.
It’s a deeply personal practice, and a way of holding onto the memory of our heritage.
@maricecumber is an incredible jewish ceramicist, and founder of @accumulate_ldn (the art school for people affected by homelessness). Her works exhibited Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2025.

A universal story ✡️ For Jewish Culture Month, we’re spotlighting British ceramicist Marice Cumber, whose ceramics draw on her personal diaries, photographs and family history.
In this video, Marice talks about “The Vessel of Eva Nathan”, a work honouring her grandmother - born in Poland in 1902, died in England in 1990. Exploring her Jewish identity, Marice shares her family history - one of migration and resilience - shared by so many Jewish people.

Prick, Stitch & Slip is now open at the beautiful Arc space, 1 Andrew Place, London SW8 4RA, until 25 April. Featuring recent work by five very talented artists - Mandy Bonnell, Denise de Cordova, Marice Cumber, Myra Stimson and Carolyn Thompson, the exhibition explores ideas and processes often connected to concepts of domestic craft.
