Four years ago, I had met with Alicja Brudło, directress of
@osrodekkulturyochoty . At the time, I only wanted to make a short film portrait of Krystyna. I felt her story had been repeatedly forgotten and overlooked (not only hers, but those of many female textile artists).At the end of our meeting, I said, somewhat shyly, that it would be wonderful to publish a book about her, to organize proper institutional support for digitising her archive, and to realise a solo exhibition of Krystyna’s works.
Alicja initiated the process, which eventually reached Dominika Kaszewska’s
@obiekt2.0 desk at Zachęta. Dominka’s continuous efforts have made - all of the above - possible and thanks to Jędrzej Zakrzewski
@jedrzej.jan all of it is arriving to fruition.
The project continued through three different directors at Zachęta, and we are now arriving at its realisation. Our film premieres in March in Poland and in April internationally. Krystyna’s archive is now in the best possible hands — Karolina Vyšata
@mamakaro5 .The publication is underway, and the first solo exhibition of Krystyna’s work at
@galeria_zacheta opens on 20 February. None of this would have been possible without the work and dedication of many people. What a meaningful way to mark Krystyna’s 100th birthday.
Our film as well as our installation for the exhibition would not have happened without the ongoing efforts of Alicja
@alaa_bruu ,Dominika
@obiekt2.0 and Jędrzej
@jedrzej.jan @monimargareta and many others to whom we are eternally grateful.
The film and installation were made possible with the support of
@osrodekkulturyochoty @galeria_zacheta @sona__air @culture_pl and #fundacjayes
