With this final post, I can confirm that there are at least 100 professional African, Afro-diasporic, Black musicians living & working in Germany.
At least - meaning there are many more! /Part 6
I started the Independent Black Musicians Living in Berlin & Germany series not only to honor Black History Month, but to push for real inclusivity and accountability in the German music ecosystem. This work is based on independent research, care, and unpaid labor, now openly shared with musicians, institutions, festivals, programmers, venues, & funders.
A wishlist for 2026 and beyond:
• Long-term programming instead of one-off representation
• Fair and transparent pay
• MORE Black professionals in juries, curation & decision-making across all initiatives and genres
• Investment in sustainable infrastructure, not visibility alone
• Trust-based funding for community-led initiatives
Take action:
Follow the artists.
Go to their concerts.
Stream, share, and buy on Bandcamp.
Book them. Collaborate. Support beyond BHM.
Please keep liking, saving, sharing, reposting, and commenting.
Tag other Black musicians living and producing in Germany so this can continue to grow.
Contrary to popular belief, the community is here & deserves to be sustainably held, like everyone else.
And who knows, with institutional support and funding, this could be the start of something beautiful, accessible & long overdue.

“Independent” refers to artists who largely sustain their work through their own labor and resources, even when collaborating with smaller partners.
