One of the standout partnerships from the latest season of Dancing with the Stars: Margot Weeda and Karl Meesters.
Karl lives with a severe visual impairment, meaning choreography had to be built almost entirely through language, rhythm and trust rather than visual demonstration. Margot guided the process with remarkable clarity and sensitivity, translating movement into cues and imagery that Karl could embody through feeling. Week after week their performances resonated with audiences and judges, carrying them deep into the competition.
As professional dancer @katyajones said during one of the episodes:
‘’Tonight it was another level, and I just couldn’t stop thinking — it got me emotional. Isn’t it wonderful how dancing is for everybody?’’

Introducing the team; MARGOT
Margot Weeda is a professional dancer and coach, trained at the Dance Academy of the Fontys School of Performing Arts. She is a certified Reformer and Barre instructor, including Pre- & Postnatal Teacher Training.
She has worked internationally as the pro dancer and coach for Dancing With The Stars, and has appeared in several TV shows and music videos, as well as productions and tours across the UK and Europe, including Here Come the Boys, Behind the Magic, Once Upon a Time, Let’s Dance (Germany Tour), and the musical On Your Feet.
“I believe that everybody, with the right guidance and knowledge of their body, can learn how to dance. Dance is for everybody, and I can’t wait to help you reconnect with one of the strongest tools there is to become present.”
This spring, we begin a shared creative process.
StageWorks is a 12-week program dedicated to storytelling through voice, movement, and acting.
Each Monday evening, we work in the studio —
exploring expression, and developing performance work that grows from your own imagination.
The focus is on craft and creativity:
strengthening your skillset while staying true
to the way you move, speak, and tell stories.
We meet Mondays from 18:00–21:00,
starting March 2nd,
at Chassé Studios, Amsterdam West.
The process culminates in a showcase:
an original performance featuring solos, duos, trios,
and group work — all created from within the process itself.
This is a space to bring art to life
To explore ideas.
To take them on stage.

Even iets anders van mijzelf hier.
Gisteravond kreeg ik de vraag van een jonge leerling, een video op te nemen voor haar school project over de samenwerking met iemand met een beperking. Of ik wilde vertellen hoe mijn ervaring met @karlmeesters@vtm.be was en daar advies in wilde geven.
Snel spontaan een video opgenomen en verstuurd.
En toen dacht ik, waarom deel ik dat niet eens gewoon hier. Dit is zo’n groot deel van mijn werk juist, wat niet aan het licht komt op mijn feed eigenlijk. Wie weet inspireert het, helpt t, interesseert het jullie wel.
Note: Dit gaat grotendeels over het stukje samenwerking, mentale coaching, energetisch werk etc. Ik zou nog zo 100videos kunnen opnemen over hoé ik hem dans heb geleerd, hoe pittig ik hem heb aangepakt, hoe ik mijzelf als partner moest opstellen/aanpassen, basically de inhoud van het (dans) werk. Maar ik geloof dat wat ik hier vertel de basis is van een goede samenwerking.
Kleine aanvulling omdat ik het niet kan laten: diegene succesmomenten laten beleven. Je partner moet ook zelf ervaren (bewijs krijgen), dat jouw methode effect heeft en het resultaat er daadwerkelijk is. Ook dat geeft vertrouwen. En dan kan je weer een stapje verder pushen. 🔥🙏🏽

For a school project of a young student, she asked me to tell her about my experience coaching Karl with a visual impairment and for advise. Now just sharing here, to share this side of me and Hopefully inspire/help out.
Note: this is just outlet about the mental coaching, energetic work part. I could make another 100 video’s on the actual dance teaching, how much I’ve also pushed him, how I had to adapt as a partner dancing with him, basically the content of the dance work and the whole process of being on DWTS. But I believe this is the base of a good collaboration .
Last thing I wanna add, let them experience moments of succes! Your partner has to experience himself (evidence), that your method is working. That’s also trust. So then you can take the next steps again and push further and further 🔥🙏🏽
