Spring Summer 2026 Campaign Closing the door on the outside world brings a sense of calm and reassurance – a feeling reflected in William Waterworth’s photography for the Spring Summer campaign. Together with Joel Kerr’s short film, the imagery captures the harmony between the stillness of architectural textures and the movement of natural fabrics, revealing the quiet strength and confidence found in understatement. #MargaretHowell @willwaterworth @joelkerrfilms

To mark 130 years of The Architectural Review, Margaret Howell has personally selected five magazine covers from the archive, available to purchase as limited-edition prints. The curated collection of covers were chosen from the AR’s archive of more than 1,500 issues, and includes artwork based on works by Le Corbusier and Kazimir Malevich, among others. From a microphotograph of a smoke particle to the fishermen’s sheds in Hastings, the collection illustrates a tradition of striking and idiosyncratic covers that the AR continues to this day. The prints are available to order from 14 May until 14 June 2026, from The Architectural Review store and from the @margarethowellltd website. Each giclée print is produced in a limited edition of 200 and printed on matt, natural white, 350gsm Hahnemühle Museum Etching paper. The print features a debossed AR monogram alongside handwritten edition numbering. Pictured: cover from 1951, based on the 1920 painting Still Life by the architect Le Corbusier.

In 1966, the summer before starting art school, I made a series of drawings capturing the movement and texture of grass blowing in the wind. I have always loved natural untamed forms. – Margaret Howell Wild grasses have been a recurring visual theme not only in Margaret’s personal drawings and photography, but also in seasonal campaign imagery through the decades. The Grasses T Shirt transposes one of Margaret’s original drawings from paper to fabric, paying homage to her most enduring source of inspiration – nature. #MargaretHowell

Kenji Umeda : a journey   A new exhibition in collaboration with Kettle’s Yard Friday 20 March – Sunday 12 April 34 Wigmore Street, London W1   In 2024, during works to an outbuilding at Kettle’s Yard, a packing trunk was discovered. Upon inspection, it was found to contain artworks, clothes and personal items belonging to the artist Kenji Umeda.   Kenji Umeda: a journey tells the story of the friendship between Jim Ede, founder of Kettle’s Yard, and Umeda, and of the artist’s progress in Italy and the United States, where he moved with his wife Jacqueline Benard, also an artist.   As part of the collaboration with Margaret Howell, a collection of Umeda’s clothing from the trunk has been laid out to show their affinity with certain items in store. In the context of Margaret Howell’s philosophy of design, the attention to materials and enduring forms that characterises Umeda’s sculpture is shown to apply equally to the artist’s choice of apparel. #MargaretHowell @kettlesyard
