I still don’t have the words, but my heart is overflowing with gratitude. I thought I was good. Then, I look up and three of my dearest friends from Los Angeles are walking into the lobby at my Dad’s Celebration of Life service as a COMPLETE surprise. …I lost it! 😭 I couldn’t believe my eyes and honestly, I’m still in shock. I asked if they would minister “Total Praise” before the Benediction and they agreed without hesitation. Thank you Darrel, Rosalind and Lechell for your ministry of presence and song that only God could’ve known I needed to bring my family and me through the day. I love you all! 🙏🏽🎶💙🙌🏽
Tomorrow, we celebrate your Life: the life you lived and the life you gave in service to those around you. Oh, how proud I am to be your son! One thing about our bride Victoria she LOVES music! To elevate the ceremony, we brought in a choir that filled the room with a truly spiritual energy. The excellence in those voices was nothing short of a gift from God. And baby, let me tell you Victoria sang in the choir for years, so she came ready to bring ALL the musical heat. As we prepare to honor our Veterans this weekend, I’m reminded of my maternal Grandfather, the late William L. Booker, who served alongside a squadron of brave, skilled, and dedicated African-American men during World War II known as the Tuskegee Airmen. In his later years, he would recount the painful irony of fighting for a country that refused to love him (and his brothers) back. Facing discrimination at every turn; they persisted - serving honorably and faithfully to their call until the end. Thank you, @wsdva , for highlighting my Grandfather’s life story along your #WallOfHeroes. This November also marks the 11th Anniversary of his passing.
