OFFICIAL: Arkansas Democrats Elect Retired Army Colonel Marcus Jones as Chair 🔥🔥🔥 In his acceptance speech, Col. Jones said: “When I look at this room, I see Arkansans committed to making a difference in our state and in our nation. You have built momentum. We have recruited strong candidates and expanded our ground game. In the Army we like to call this setting conditions—setting conditions for success. And the result of that is we’ve had the best election cycle that has happened in 18 years. So now it’s time to carry that momentum forward… There’s a verse in the Bible that says iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. This process that we have gone through to talk with each other, to conduct a campaign, to elect a chair—all of that is positive. It’s good. It’s brought debate and dialogue that we should all be having. Now is the time we move forward—the time that we carry those Democratic values. Because outside of this room, not everybody shares those same values we do. We’ve got to be the folks that carry that forward for Arkansans. We’ve gotta be the people that do that for our nation. I appreciate you for this opportunity. I am honored to be your chair.” Col. Marcus Jones enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve in July 1990 and attended the University of Arkansas, where he earned a Bachelor’s in Political Science. He also holds Master’s Degrees from the U.S. Army War College and Webster University. Col. Jones culminated 29 years of commissioned service as the Senior Army Advisor to the Arkansas Army National Guard, returning to his home in Central Arkansas. With three decades of experience driving strategic initiatives, optimizing operations, and leading high-performing teams in complex, fast-paced environments, he’s ready to serve as Chair of the Democratic Party of Arkansas 👏 Marcus and his wife of 30 years, Carrie, live in Little Rock and are the proud parents of two adult children, Will, 23, and Abby Grace, 20, as well as a very young, rambunctious giant schnauzer named Poppy.

OFFICIAL 🔥👏 The Arkansas Supreme Court DISMISSED Gov. Sanders’ Appeal; ARKANSAS DEMOCRATS just WON our lawsuit on behalf of House District 70 voters ‼️ Y’ALL, this is a HUGE WIN 💯 “The Governor fought this for months. She wasted time and taxpayer dollars. Even after the election was over. Even after the session was over— Gov. Sanders kept fighting, because she thinks she knows better than the voters of House District 70 and better than the Arkansas Supreme Court.  We’re pleased with the Court’s decision. Arkansas Democrats will never stop fighting for representation and democracy in Arkansas.” — Arkansas Democratic Party Chair Col. Marcus Jones (Ret.)

NEWS 🚨 Gov. Sanders JUST picked the Supreme Court Special Justice who will decide a case SHE is a DEFENDANT in. From DPA Chair Col. @marcusforar : “Unlike Gov. Sanders, the Democratic Party and four Pulaski County voters are standing up for Arkansans to ensure fairness in the courts and fair representation in the legislature.” The Democratic Party of Arkansas and four Pulaski County voters just filed a motion to ask the Arkansas Supreme Court Special Justice Sanders appointed to recuse himself 🗂️ Read more at the link in our story 🔗

It’s Teacher Appreciation Week 🍎 From Arkansas Democrats Chair Colonel Marcus Marcus Jones (Ret.): “To every teacher in Arkansas — thank you. You show up early, stay late, buy supplies out of your own pocket, and hold the classroom together no matter what’s happening in the world outside it. Through your hard work and commitment, you’re shaping Arkansas’s future. You deserve more than a thank-you week. You deserve pay that reflects the hours you work, and classroom supplies you don’t have to buy yourself. You deserve the resources you need to adequately serve every student in your classroom. You deserve state leaders who treat you like the professionals you are. You deserve legislators who prioritize our public schools, which 95% of Arkansas kids attend — rather than sending our tax dollars to private schools. Instead of spending $300+ Million on school vouchers, we could give every public school teacher an $8,000 raise. Our tax dollars would be far better spent if we did. In so many Arkansas towns, the public school is the heart of the community— and you keep it beating. We are so grateful for the time and dedication you put into your work.” THANK YOU, ARKANSAS TEACHERS ❤️

TODAY: Legislative and Democratic Party leaders are responding to the Supreme Court’s decision in Louisiana v. Callais, which gutted a core requirement of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and opens the door to racial gerrymandering — particularly in the South, where Republican lawmakers have already signaled their intent to dilute the voting power of minority communities. From Sen @jamiescott4arkansas : “While this is a major setback in our fight for racial justice and equal representation, make no mistake — Arkansas Democrats and Black legislative leaders won’t stop fighting for your right to vote and be represented in the Natural State.” Your vote has never been more important— and Democrats will keep fighting for your right to representation. NEWS 🚨 Arkansas Democrats are calling for our FEDERAL DELEGATION to DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY for the reckless & dangerous ICE agents who have murdered two U.S. citizens this month 📰 “Immigrants aren’t terrorizing Minnesota neighborhoods, masked federal agents are. We shouldn’t live in fear of our federal government, but we’re watching, in real time, as untrained ICE agents endanger U.S. citizens. Now, two Americans are dead, a mother of three, Renee Good, and an ICU nurse at a VA hospital, Alex Pretti. Neither was killed by an immigrant. Both were murdered by federal agents.” Sign our petition HERE for detailed instructions on how you can email our Senators & Representatives 👉 http://arkdems.us/stopiceviolence

UPDATE ON OUR LAWSUIT AGAINST GOV. SANDERS 🚨 The Special Election Dates in House District 70 have OFFICIALLY been moved UP following the COURT ORDER issued as a result of our lawsuit 👏💯 This fight is NOT OVER, though. The Governor is appealing this case to the Supreme Court, and we need your support. To contribute to fund our legal efforts, send any amount to ArkDems.us/FightforHD70 or send a check to 1300 W Capitol Avenue, Little Rock, 72201 From Arkansas Democrats Chair Colonel Marcus Jones (Ret.): “While the Democratic Party of Arkansas is fighting for Arkansas voters, the Governor has fought tooth and nail to impose taxation without representation from Charleston to North Little Rock. Arkansans have had enough. The Governor thinks she knows better than everyday voters, our courts, and our Constitution. We’ll see about that at the ballot box.”

Army Col. Marcus Jones (@marcusforar ): “The Supreme Court’s quick action on the preliminary motions is encouraging, and Arkansas Democrats will not back down in the fight for representation in House District 70. Let’s be clear: The Governor and Secretary of State are ordered to move up the Primary Election to January and the General Election to March.
