I’m a huge Reese Witherspoon fan, but this post of hers is an example of what we see so much these days, and is so dangerous. It’s deeply unloving - and we need to call it out. Using this exact language: loving vs unloving. I’ll share more examples of loving vs unloving in hopes that by calling things by their real name, we’ll all gain the power to change what is acceptable in our world. We humans thrive in love. We wither without it. Let’s all take a stand for it. It’s time, don’t you think? @reesewitherspoon @reesesbookclub @harvard_business_review

The first thing every person needs in any experience is a feeling of control. Take that away and they shut down.

The best nurses don't use a special technique. They just say: this is going to hurt a little bit, and I'm going to make it hurt as little as I can.

In “Design Love In,” researcher and bestselling author @marcusbuckingham reveals how love isn't just a soft feeling. It's a measurable driver of performance and growth. He shows how leaders can intentionally build love into everything they do: from interactions with team members, to company policies and practices, to the products and services and experiences they create. Get your copy of “Design Love In” at the link in our bio.

Dear [Name], I’m writing to share news that is difficult for me to deliver and will be painful for you to receive. After careful consideration of Oracle’s current business needs, we have made the decision to eliminate your role as part of a broader organizational change. Today is your last working day with Oracle. What We Will Do for You We want to support your transition and next steps. Here’s what Oracle is committed to providing: Career transition support: We are providing you with 3 months of access to professional career coaching and job search resources through [service provider]. You’ll receive details about how to access this support in your transition email. Reference commitment: Your manager is prepared to serve as a reference for your job search. We will confirm your dates of employment, role, and contributions to prospective employers. Extended benefits: Your health benefits will continue through [specific date], giving you time to secure new coverage. We’ll send detailed information about COBRA options and timing. Alumni network access: You’ll retain access to Oracle’s alumni network, where you can stay connected with former colleagues and access job postings from companies that value Oracle experience. Learning & certification completion: If you’re currently enrolled in any Oracle training or certification programs, we’ll ensure you can complete them over the next 30 days to support your next opportunity. What We Want You to Know Your contributions to Oracle have mattered. The work you’ve done, the problems you’ve solved, the relationships you’ve built—these have had real impact. While this organizational change means your role is ending, your value as a professional is not diminished. We recognize this news disrupts your life, your plans, and your sense of security. That’s not something we take lightly. If you have questions or need support during this transition, please reach out to our HR team via the Ask HR page. They are here to help you navigate what comes next. We wish you well in your next chapter. With respect, [Actual name of leader, not “Oracle Leadership”] #oracle #harvardbusinessreviewpress

When you say you really like something, I can't predict what you'll do next. When you say you love it, I can.

Jack Dorsey couldn’t be more wrong about jobs and AI. We all need to learn how to push back against this misdiagnosis and the mistaken action it produces. All of us - sooner rather than later - will bump up against Jack’s thinking. And we all need the language to push back and say, no Jack, you’ve misunderstood how value is created - for customers and team members. . . . #jackdorsey #ai @roelofbotha @hbr_press
