She turned 85 yrs old today. The world she was born into was different: no internet, no smartphones, no email, most people had no TV, only the radio and the newspaper connected them to the outside world 🌎 📻
Calling long distance (to another state) cost so much money that it was a rare event. Maps were paper. Photos were paper, and the amount of change in the past 85 years is about equivalent to the 500 years before she was born!
But she’s still here. She’s seen a lot of loss,…too much loss….and yet she marches on… a fighter and a warrior. And a legend in my book. An example of how to live and how to give. A reminder that women are probably tougher than men. Maybe they (women like her) should have a shot at driving the Bus?…
I feel lucky I get to call her Mom.

A picture a year (+/- 5) for the best giiiiiiirl there ever was….
She came in like a 10 oz wrecking ball of fluff swinging from an umbilical cord instead of a chain and wrapped in a warm clear sac of love….that apparently her mother was too tired to break open. So before she suffocated I reached down and opened the amniotic sac….she started to breath.
Out of 8 pups, we chose her…not sure why. Maybe it was because she was a straight up rebel: first one to jump out of the whelping box (hence Pogo), the first (every time) to feeding time with mom….or she would push and shove to find her place. First one to shit on her own sleeping brother,...then walk away like nothin happened.
The first day we took her outside as a pup, a wasp landed on her butt and stung her, so she snapped around with her mouth to investigate and got stung on her face too. We knew we were in trouble… Emergency surgeries, planned surgeries, custom purple knee-braces...somehow nothing ever phased her too much. Her Life of adventure was as rich as it gets…running hard with her Mom….and then solo. She broke rules and didn’t care….
But in the end on thursday when we finally decided to let her go, her 15 years of life and love somehow seemed like the blink of an eye….like it had happened all at once. But its not true. It was a slow beautiful imperfectly perfect train wreck of a life, with a million more highs than lows that left us with a million more memories than we deserved,...memories that live on with us to prove that she was a real living breathing being, even now, especially now that she graduated to the next level and moved on. And she got the last bark on the way out….died at 5:55, just like @ski395 , and it was her 5,505th day of life…..
What do you do with the memories of a life well Lived? I don’t know yet…but each time a being leaves us it gives us yet another clear chance to face the question head on and sort through our hearts, looking for answers that help us grow and evolve,...or at least answers that help us appreciate the experience of being Alive.

Water skiing is an interval based sport! So….Intervals are a great way to train for water skiing!
Here is one way to put together an effective interval workout for water skiing.
1. Pick two full body movements.
2. Set the clock for 6 to 12 minutes.
3. On the odd minutes do one of the exercises for 30-45sec .
4. On the even minutes do the other exercise for 30-45sec.
Get after it during the work portion and during the rest, focus on your breath to bring heart rate down.
Wanna give this FPM conditioning a try?
6-12 min
- Odd Min -> 6-12 Burpees
- Even Min -> 20-40 Skaters
* adjust reps to fit in that 30-45sec work window
* modify movements to
- elevated hands or no push-up burpees
- reverse lunges or squats
