Marc Romboy has been a defining figure in electronic music since the nineties. Raised in Mönchengladbach, shaped as a DJ in Düsseldorf, with releases on Kompakt, Cocoon, Innervisions, Bedrock and his own label Systematic. Performances at Berghain Berlin, fabric London, Rex Club Paris, Womb Tokyo, Faust Seoul and Crowbar Buenos Aires. In April, he already played a showcase at @ampere.club . Now he returns for the whole night. Inspired by Laurent Garnier, with whom he shares not only a friendship and mutual remixes, but also releases on Garnier’s label COD3 QR, Marc Romboy translates the allnighter tradition into his own language on September 5. A journey through house, techno, drum’n’bass, disco and music that does not exist yet. No setlist. No plan. Just the room, the sound and seven hours of time. Some nights you forget. Others stay. Düsseldorf and Maastricht were the second kind. We were nervous going in. Months of preparation, every detail on our minds: Will the night work? Will people come? Will our sound land? It did. Düsseldorf was a home game at @ampere.club , faces I’ve known for years, and new ones that felt like old friends within minutes. Maastricht was our debut at @muziekgieterij.midnight . Lighting that grabs you. A sound warm, deep, rounded in the low end. And between the sets, conversations with people who don’t just listen to underground music, they feel it. One moment I’ll keep: after a Marcel Dettmann track called „Quicksand“, “Neverender” by Justice drops. The sun comes up. Happy, astonished faces. Pure ecstasy. @robertbabicz new live set pulled the room into those moments where everyone feels the same thing without a word being said. No algorithm. No hype. Just a club, a dancefloor, and people who know exactly why they’re there. To everyone who was there: we saw you. Thank you. To everyone who wasn’t: the next one’s coming.
