What happens to the people we can’t let go of?
In Lionfish, Ida exists as the lingering memory of a past relationship — trapped within the surreal subconscious of Alexander as he struggles to move on.
Lionfish is an experimental fantasy romance about heartbreak, memory, and the subconscious. Inspired by the works of Maya Deren and the writings of Carl Jung.
Clips from a fun bachelor party trip to Vancouver Island last summer which included a 4 day kayak adventure into the Broken Group Islands. The bachelor in question is my good buddy Graham and instead of hitting the bars he wanted to be outside, immersed in the spoils of nature. The Broken Group Islands was just the place, a marine archipelago with bright turquoise water, windswept rocky outcrops, and lush rainforests. Our journey took 4 days in a looping route that had us camping on a windy but warm beach at Clarke Island on the south west most point of the islands. We saw seals, otters, eagles, and my favourite spot - the black oystercatcher. To get the islands you have to cross a pretty decent chunk of open ocean, I won’t lie it was a little scary, I got ravaged by some pretty powerful waves and I had a camera around my neck and a fresh tattoo on my arm I wasn’t supposed to get wet. I got soaked so I was a little stressed😂. But it was all good. After the trip in the town of Ucluelet we hiked triple peak, surfed long beach and got a surprise float plane ride. All in all, it was a pretty wonderful time with some good homies. Please listen to the audio on the surfing clip it’s funny.

Some moments from Mexico City 🇲🇽, I was fortunate to visit last month for my film screening and while I normally take street photos on my trips I decided to focus more on shooting video. I really loved walking around Mexico City, what a lush city full of boulevards shaded by green canopies. As a history fanatic I couldn’t get enough of the many museums and colonial architecture. I hope I can go again soon.

Excited to announce that Lionfish has been officially selected for Festival Fotogenia in Mexico City! 🇲🇽✨Festival Fotogenia is the first international film festival in Mexico that is dedicated to experimental cinema, film poetry and divergent narratives. Obabika Old-growth Forest 🌳. This year for our annual august long canoe trip we ventured up north to Temagami and completed a loop covering Lakes Temagami, Diamond, and Obabika. The linchpin of our trip was a campsite on night 2 which was located on Chee Skon lake, a sacred indigenous site which featured a huge rock face known as the Spirit Rock and it also had trails running through the Obabika Old Growth forests. Chee-skon abikong is the full Ojibway name and it means “lake at the place of the large rock”. The Teme-Augama, Nipissings and other indigenous peoples would come to this rock alone or with a group to seek guidance, heal or dream. This forest is the largest continuous stand of red and white pines left remaining in the world, some trees are over 380 years old.
It was pretty special staying here, the forest was lush, and the lake was teeming with life. At night, we explored the shoreline with our headlamps and were met with a lively abundance of frogs, crayfish, and mudpuppies.

Super happy to have a successful premiere of my short film “Lionfish” ! ✨
I must admit I was nervous to share my film to the world. But I couldn’t be happier with how the event went. It was amazing to see the film projected on a large screen in the wide CinemaScope aspect ratio with good sound. Thank you to @innistownhall for providing their excellent facilities. Thank you to my lead actors @robertbazzocchi and @leelawson_ for joining me on the stage for the Q&A after the showing. Also thank you to @tylerrburst for moderating the event.
This film took almost 2 years to get it to the premiere. It was difficult at times but I cherish this learning experience, and I would do it all over again. Thank you to my Lionfish team who fought through lightning storms and runaway horses, I couldn’t have done this without you. 💫
Promotional images for “Lionfish” ! ✨
I had a wonderful time crafting the look for this film with my cinematographer @sebmarin_ who was a true professional and genius. When I approached him about the project, we instantly connected on tossing out the rulebook to create something evocative and bold.
