A belated appreciation post The premiere London screening of Love Spell happened on Feb 15th at the cult alternative venue Helgi’s, as a part of the Lupercalia event. It was also a test screening since we only had the first cut of the film at that point. It was great nevertheless. Kudos to the creative force of nature @setttima for organising it and inviting us to participate. It was amazing to see many strangers coming to watch the film, and good conversations and feedback afterwards made me smile a lot. I almost regret not taking any pictures, but I simply wanted to enjoy the moment. What now? The movie will not go online, though there will be more screenings. The next London one will happen on Mar 10th at the lovely Pineapple in Kentish Town, at 9pm, as organised by my good colleague Ouma S. Then, the plan is to travel to my beloved city of Prague, in Czechia, for a whole series of screenings at the wonderful venue of @kukmalhilda . We don’t have the dates yet, but looks like it will be in the summertime. Meanwhile, in June, Love Spell should appear in Poland, as a part of one alternative festival, though the programme hasn’t been officially announced, so can’t share the details yet. The goal is to submit the film to various short film festivals within the next months and see what happens. If all goes well, we will start another surreal project. If not… well, this has been a great adventure. A turbulent road, too, with a year of gradual preparation, two months of shooting, a couple of small dramas partly reshaping the crew and the film itself, and me becoming broke in the end (welp!). But it was worth it. While I’m normally self-critical, I do think it’s a great fucking film. Of course, I’m more of a loving parent who is unable to be objective, but don’t tell anyone.
