@georginacoxpersonaltraining “It’s OK to eat MORE than your partner! As a woman it can feel like society has dictated the smaller the better, whether it’s our bodies or our food portions. The notion of a woman ALWAYS being the one to order a salad on a date was a running theme in EVERY tv show or film I watched growing up. There would also be a repetitive scenario where the man would pre order a meal for his date. A salad. Adding to the EXPECTATION of what a woman “should” be eating. This exposure can MANIFEST itself when we’re older, leading you to ignore your hunger cues when you’re with your significant other out of FEAR of judgement. Only choosing a meal after they have so you can ensure it’s smaller. Only buying a takeout if they will eat it with you. Only letting yourself have dessert if they want to have one too. I remember being CONSUMED with these feelings around food at the start of my relationship with my husband because I have always eaten MORE than him. I’ve always had a sweet tooth, whereas he doesn’t. I have a highly physical job, whereas he doesn’t. We have entirely different daily lives and entirely different hunger levels. Everyones bodies are COMPLETELY different, everyone has different genetics, different metabolisms and different energy expenditures! All of these things effect the amount of food our bodies NEED day to day. Not only that, our menstrual cycle can also effect our food cravings during our time of the month. There can be so much shame when it comes to food in a relationship due to a narrative that we have been CONDITIONED to believe! Release yourself from the belief that as a woman you HAVE to eat certain food, you have to eat a certain AMOUNT of food and that you have to LIMIT your hunger around your partner. Eat the meal you want to in that moment. Eat the amount of food you need in that moment. And listen to your body in that moment, without fear of judgement! Untangle yourself from any restrictions placed upon you by society, whether that restriction is the space you take up in this world or the space your food takes up on your plate 🍫✨”
