Before he was a world-famous mime, Marcel Marceau was just a young man in Nazi occupied France in 1943. In the face of military occupation, Marcel joined the French resistance, smuggling Jewish children from an orphanage in southern France to safety and freedom in Switzerland, and using every tool at his disposal to keep them safe from the Nazi officers hunting them (and their families) down, finding joy when surrounded by fear. Marcel on the Train is the story of one of those train rides. I am unbelievably proud of this play, and hope you’ll get a chance to see it.
