Detroit, this is big.
The city just reached a resolution on the Living Wage for Musicians Act — a bill drafted by United Musicians & Allied Workers
@weareumaw and introduced in 2025 by Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib.
That makes Detroit the second city in the country, right after New York, to move this forward.
And let’s be real… our community played a huge role. Lead by
@thecreativeuniondet , pushed by artists, organizers, and supported by mayor-elect Mary Sheffield
@marysheffield , Councilwoman Gabriela Santiago-Ramirez
@gabysantiagoromero , and Detroit City Council — the momentum was undeniable.

Next stop: Washington.
If this bill passes, musicians could earn 3x more from streaming. That’s real sustainability, real ownership, and real power back in the hands of artists.
Detroit did its part — now the nation’s watching.
