Thank you to everyone who made this year so special. Still integrating everything from this experience…
@deserthearts always leaves me with a message, and while this one felt different, it was powerful in its own way. It brought some of the most beautiful highs and also stretched me through some deep challenges. Both of which cracked me open in new ways.
As a director, it was one of the most difficult weeks of my life ~ logistically, mentally, and emotionally. But as an artist, and as a member of this community, it was one of the most profound and fulfilling Desert Hearts I’ve ever experienced.
I’m still unpacking it all ~ and probably will be for weeks ~ but what I can say now is this: Desert Hearts has shaped me into the man I am today. It’s pushed me past my limits, opened me up, and connected me to lifelong friendships and chosen family I never would’ve found otherwise. The love we’ve cultivated together in this little oasis we call home is something I struggle to put into words… but I feel it, deeply.
In a world that feels increasingly disconnected and heavy, DH is a glimpse of what’s possible. When we gather, we create a microcosm of love, unity, and inspiration that ripples outward ~ and those ripples matter. They carry into the world, into our relationships, our communities, and hopefully into a better future. That’s what the world needs more of right now, and if we can be part of that, then we’re doing something meaningful.
To everyone behind the scenes ~ our staff, Walter Productions, Playa Ponderosa, all the artists and contributors, and to you… thank you. When we say “community,” we mean it with every fiber of our being.
I’m exhausted, I’m fulfilled, I’m grateful… and I’m hopeful.
I’m decompressing now in Sedona, and if you’re in the area, I’d love to connect one last time before heading home. I’ll be playing at
@humankind.center Sedona this Saturday at 11:30pm ~ come keep the love flowing.
With all my heart ✌🏼💗
