Some Favorite Stills From the short film “Xiao An”we shot in Chongqing last winter.
The story follows Xiao An, a young woman sent from her Chongqing mountain village to Beijing through an arranged marriage. When summoned back by her family for a mandatory ancestral ceremony, she meets childhood friend Xiao Yan — now enduring the same pressure to marry against her will that Xiao An once faced.
This shoot reminded me of my student film days: carrying heavy props with the art team, building sets until midnight, hiking on unlit mountain paths with equipment... The exhaustion felt familiar, mixed with the kind of simple joys and struggles I experienced during the days when I am still a student.
The constant rain in Chongqing’s mountains caused endless challenges, but also created a unique atmosphere we couldn’t have planned.
On the last day, I fractured my wrist during filming. Yet the pain seemed less sharp in the moment — maybe because I was too busy celebrating finally getting the shots we’d worked so hard to capture.

Prisoner 8903 is sent to a mysterious prison, he seems to have no idea why he was brought here, he is obviously not guilty, they must be mistaken.
In his cell, his crazy cellmate 8902 tells him that he has a chip installed in his head that is used to "play films". ...... In a succession of dreams and strange red light, 8903 seems to see the truth of the matter......
After completing the filming of the film in early March, I followed up with the director to complete the post-colour grading work, and now that a series of post-production work is completed and the film is entering the festival submission stage, the director has produced a homemade trailer, which I would like to share with you!
