โ€ขB-2007โ€ขChina Southern has made a quiet resumption of their Guangzhou to Vancouver service, but B-2007 is easily the standout of their Boeing 777-300ER fleet. This one being the first one delivered to the airline in 2014, is adorned in the โ€œWorldSkills Shanghai 2022โ€ special livery. Since the resumption of their service in September, she has flown here twice bringing a rare burst of colour to our gloomy West Coast winter evening. โ€œThe galaxy prepares to say goodbye to a legendโ€@allnipponairways C-3PO themed Boeing 777 has been one of the most recognizable special liveries in aviation the last decade. For everyone in the aviation community, itโ€™s such a pity that her days are numbered all of sudden. She was another crossover between aviation and popular culture. A rare sight only available in Japan which drew cameras wherever it flew with even planespotters coming from abroad to catch this piece of art. It ultimately became a fixture in the global spotting community.As her days are officially numbered on January 9, this aircraft takes its place in aviation history โ€” not for how long it flew, but for how many people it inspired along the way.Sheโ€™ll live on in the memories of those who followed it. Danke @lufthansa for sending your pencils to Hong Kong International Airport for over two years! Today marks the end of flight LH796 being operated by the Airbus A340-600 after serving Asiaโ€™s World City for over 2 years. During its duration, it has captivated many aviation enthusiasts in Hong Kong through its uniquely stretched fuselage and 4 huge Rolls-Royce Trent 500 engines. There were also a handful of plane spotters around the world who would chase after this beast during their visit to HKG. It was back in March of this year when I visited Hong Kong and cherished the opportunity to see it up close. I remember how much I marveled at this strikingly massive monstrosity from the terminal. Sheโ€™ll certainly be sorely missed among avgeeks including me. Rest-assured that one of these will be preserved.
