🇬🇧 We met by chance… or maybe it was fate.
Matt was stranded in Tijuana—no hotel, no fee—after a promoter left him in the lurch. He called my brother (on Lee Burridge’s recommendation) to see if we could help him get to Mexico City in time for his Sunday set at Club AM.
We picked him up at the airport, had breakfast together, and I offered him a place to stay in my guest room so we could look after him.
He accepted. That night, Nash and I were playing at Play, and I asked if he’d like to join us. With a smile, he said yes—and even offered to play for free, as a thank-you for our help.
We sent a few texts, called some friends, and ended up dancing past 5 a.m. Midway through his set, Matt turned to us and said, “Let’s close the night with a B2B.”
It was one of those unforgettable moments…
the kind you hope stays forever in someone’s memory.
Rest in peace, dear Matt Tolfrey. May your family and friends find comfort in remembering you with all the love so many of us—including me—hold for you.
