I saw you standing there in white, as the boat cruised around the bend, and the hour reached that golden glaze, and our families had become one, and I feel it as much as I did then, grateful as a man can get, welcoming all the joy you bring into my life. 13 years ago as luck would have it, I married a woman who surprises me every day. The kindest beauty, a friend to many, an enemy of none. Together we share this wave, with locked arms, a tap dancing tandem, a son on our shoulders, cruising and curious what life has in store. We built from the ground up, rejoiced in our blessings, pulled an arrow out of San Sebastian’s rib, bathed in Opeka’s Falls, and won our fair share of Halloween costume contests. 😁 Thank you for raising our son with such grace. Dearest Ash, I love you. my wife, my best friend… it’s hard to believe but true, you and I met 15 years ago. All the Luck was in my pocket. 15 years ago on a movie set in the heart of the Bronx. Feels Like yesterday, end of the summer heat, The place was bustling with actors, extras, hair and makeup, lights and camera crew operators. And there through the frame You walked into the room with heavy heels, a breath taking sight. Beautiful your enormous eyes almond shaped and lined in black. So attractive. wearing a long yellow dress, a thin black belt, black stockings strutted into the room and the heads did turn, silly but it felt like one of those Cindy Crawford Pepsi commercials. You had a strong posture but a gentle sway, I couldn’t help but sit up straight and stare. 15 years and I remember it well. The director came and told me to pick a girl out of the crowd, “she’ll be your girlfriend in the party scene right before Papo (the bad guy) will steal your sneakers” and so I walked across the room trying to act nonchalant, confident not too confident but confident breathe breathe breathe over thinking as I do. I interrupted a conversation some random guy was trying to have with you and I asked if you’d be my acting girlfriend. We danced close on set, you smelled like Miss Dior Cherie. Two days later we walked side by side for 200 blocks found a bench under a Sycamore in THE Park and I basically proposed to you. And now we’ve reached our steel year, 11 years happier married than ever before. I adore you. Thank you for being the best mother to our child. Thank you for the laughs all the laughs, and the spontaneous adventures, and the lasagna… I’ll never tire of your lasagna. I love being your husband. I feel grateful. I feel blessed.
