Brand new class offering at the MANKATO MAKERSPACE!
2 hour single session class. A fast-paced, hands-on workshop where students transform an existing garment into a one-of-a-kind wearable art piece. Using techniques like patching, fabric manipulation, and surface design, this class is all about creative expression, experimentation, and leaving with something cool and uniquely yours.
Vine and The Mankato Makerspace are bringing a great opportunity to Mankato! The Men's Shed is a national and worldwide movement to provide elder gentlemen a place to collectively use their experience and community spirit to create projects for Mankato and the surrounding area. Project selections are up to the participants and might include benches for parks, upkeep on the Kiwanis Christmas displays, maybe even for other non-profits organizations etc. Join us at Vine on May 11th from 2-3 for coffee and pie to learn what it's all about.
We had a fantastic time at the paint and sip at Atomic Star this past Thursday! Each piece turned out uniquely, and we loved seeing everyone’s creativity shine. A big shout-out to Kelsey from RISE and Ashley from Atomic Star Tavern for organizing this wonderful event and bringing us to provide the "paint" portion of the festivities.
Markus Bean is rolling out some NEW Children's classes on Saturdays and Sundays afternoons! From mandalas, watercolor techniques, dyeing/ marbleing stationary the kiddos are sure to have a cool experience in creating these projects. Check out the upcoming classes for May!
Side note* these are not a part of our Artist of Tomorrow program .
On Tuesday, we hosted a PROJECT SUCCESS partnership, which included Mankato West High School to have a Class Sampler event with 27 students rotating around 5 make-and- take creative stations. Students got to try their hand at Leather working, Glass blowing, Cut block printing and Painting.
It was a fantastic time, and teachers reported back to us later that day with messages like "Students just got back, and say they were very impressed with what the Makerspace had to offer," & "They can't stop raving about it!" while another let us know " One student said it was the highlight of their high school career!" We are so happy and thrilled to have this type of programming come through the makerspace because the Arts ARE Important, and we want to share it with the youth of Mankato and Southern MN.

A note from Shayna, our painting instructor:
This class is all about letting go, having fun, and tapping into your creative energy, no pressure, no perfection needed. Whether you’ve never picked up a paintbrush or you paint all the time, you are so welcome here.
And don’t worry about the process, I’ll be guiding you step by step the entire way, so you can relax, sip your drink, and just enjoy the experience without overthinking it.
We’ll be creating a super vibrant, joy-filled piece together. Think bold colors, playful energy, and something totally on theme for the occasion. I truly can’t wait to share this experience with you all.
Let’s make something magical together 💚
Recent Meditative Mandala class with Markus Bean here at the Makerspace. Taking the time to walk through a step-by-step process of drawing the mandalas and then adding watercolor techniques via transfer paper. This class makes for such a relaxing Sunday afternoon.
