The games of TurnipCon. So how did the Shroomfolk fare in this whackiest of doubles events? Well I can't exactly say they covered themselves in glory...
Game one saw me reunite with @practising_ghost . Given our solid performance in the final doubles game at Aetherfest and our positions as joint holders of the Turnip on the Docks title we were poised for glory, right up until we got utterly trounced. Our opponents made the excellent tactical choice to not blunder until the third round while pushing our faces in with a hoard of cavalry and rootlings.
Game two was a much tighter affair as @pancakes.and.pineapples and I faced off against a trebuchet and some of Lady Illiana's finest. We were holding our own reasonably well but didn't quite have time to sweep up the objectives before the game came to a close.
Game three saw the Shroomfolk paired with Toby's Rockets, facing off against Grey's Red Ribbon Society and Quinn's Rockets. Things started with bloody with most of one of Grey's units of Brutes wiped out in the preliminary bombardment and my Stump gun mutually annihilating with one of Quinn's Rockets. It then stayed bloody with the rapid destruction of my fodder, Toby's Lump and Grey's other unit of Brutes. Thankfully Quinn and Grey were good enough to roll a few blunders so the Rabble got to work sweeping up objectives while a pair of Toff Offs saw victory for myself and Toby. Despite Grey's last turn play of summoning a Lump who promptly avenged his Toff they weren't quite able to turn things around and in the end the Shroomfolk finally managed to emerge for a game victorious.

(some of) The Armies of TurnipCon.
There was once again a fabulous selection of armies on display at TurnipCon yesterday. Here are the ones I remembered to get photos of. Unfortunately I don't know the tags for most of the folks who made these wonderful creations but please do give me a shout if one of these is yours and you'd like to be tagged.
I'll follow up with another post about my armies highs and (mostly) lows on the day. For now I'll just say that @turnipconofficial once again ran a great event full of exactly the kind of nonsense I look for in a day of Turnip!

On Saturday I took joint first place at Aetherfest (congratulations to @tidewatereventsuk and the Gnomes for preventing the Dwarves from stomping to an unopposed victory). With this event win I'm now the title holder for all three recurring Tidewater Events (Turnip on the Docks, Halls of the Waxen King & Aetherfest) which I thought was an achievement worthy of some commemoration.
So here are the three victorious leaders:
- Mushbert, Toff of the 45th Shroomfolk
- Grimhiler, Shiftboss of the Broom Street Tunnelers
- Zelrak, Lich of Twilight Murder

Aetherfest was this weekend, combined arms this time with a 75 shilling limit. It was a fabulous event as usual from @tidewatereventsuk and made for some very interesting games between the updated 2nd edition rules and 50% more stuff.
The Dwarves had a strong first game. @marshmarchminis Wizard was truculent but was eventually persuaded to lie down by my shiftboss and while his Scrapper tried their best they weren't able to bring down my Clattertrap, handing the dwarves the win.
Game two went rather differently as @tidewatereventsuk Gnomes grabbed the erudite and ran off to the back corner to hide behind an Arcane Engine that simply would not fail its defence saves. Unfortunately the Dwarves were simply too slow to get them before the game ended.
Game three was a real nail bitter with @woeful_miniatures Abjurers assaulting the Dwarves while they tried to defend a great artillery piece. In the end the dwarves were able to hold it but it was an extremely close thing.
Game four was a looney doubles game with 150 shillings on each side. Playing against Danny and Tom again the Dwarves held a defensive line against the onslaught of Tom's Abjurers before pushing forward to assault his arcane engine, weathering the hail of fire from Danny's diviners to take the win.

Last Monday the Neon Howlers faced off against Quincannon Meats Inc to defend the Mineral Outcrop. They held the line against the murderous butchers but suffered their first loss of one of their own. R.I.P Theodora, you weren't with us for long but you left your mark on the gang and a powerful legacy to inspire those that remain.

I closed out a very busy weekend with some Necromunda on Sunday at Abingdon Grimdark Gaming Society. The Neon Howlers faced off against D.E.R.W.U.R.S.T for the second time and after a cagey start Diocletian got stuck in and caused some carnage. Faced with an Aberrant that wouldn't go down, backed up with some hits from Valerian's mining laser the Venators ended up bottling out and the Howlers gained control of the Promethium Refinery.
I'm really enjoying the twist that @goonhammertv Lost Zones campaign has put on the game. It has certainly made for some interesting weapons loadouts and skill combinations.
Saturday was of course Salute itself, I took basically no pictures at the event or the pub afterwards so this picture of the haul will have to suffice. I have a great time wandering around, chatting to friends and playing some participation games.
FringeFest Friday was an absolute blast! It was great to see so many lovely folks and play a whole array of games. I mostly got pictures of my dwarves fighting their way across the awesome, skaven-infested, Mordheim board. But there's also a snap of a couple of gorgeous minis from @manglingminis and @woeful_miniatures fighting it out in Tara's great new game #malignantflesh which y'all should definitely check out!

I think it's about time I introduced the Howlers newest arrival. Theodora only has a couple of scraps under her belt but has made quite the impression. In her first engagement she managed to beat a Squat in exo armour in melee and in her second she led the charge against the Delaque, putting a couple on their backs with her stub guns.

Last Friday was Yuppie Scum Night arranged by the lovely @seb.hobden
We each created a piece of art and a representative of that art. We were then invited to invest in each others art and send the money we gained on upgrades for our representatives, who then battled it out to find out who could win at art.
I had a great time and almost completely forgot to take any pictures. I didn't get any of my representative before I smashed it up and glued it to the trophy and have now misplaced part of my art work but the first picture is the main bit.
