so much of my life moves through my hands: clay, flowers, leaves, fabric, fruits, vegetables. so many small acts of making and nourishment are held by them
i had just finished working on a sculpture before heading to get my portraits taken, and a few hours later i would be rushing to catch a flight. just one of those days where i have to trust im equipped enough to get through it, even if di ko rin alam paano haha kinaya naman !
somewhere along the way i looked down and saw the clay tucked under my nails. i did try to clean them (briefly) but clay is stubborn. and what if we lean into that instead ?
in the end i think this was the best way to honour who i am in this season of my life. my hands are almost always a lil marked by the things i love anyway 🤲🏼
thank you for holding mine in yours @colindancel@assemblageof
when i first saw colin’s portraits, i thought she was blocking the light to create shadows. i thought the work was in what was withheld
so i was surprised when i sat down for my own portrait and she lifted a torch above her head and began tracing me with light. slowly passing it over my eyes, my shoulder, my hand - the landscape of a body
what an absolute gift and joy it is to be witnessed, even in the corners of yourself ! even the ones you might not think to offer
honoured to be Seen by you @colindancel@assemblageof
postcards from march 2025 in mindoro
the tide had left small offerings everywhere: seaweed, shells, sea glass, small drifting things
we gathered and laid them out under the sun and let the light remember them
making these sun prints always feels a little like witnessing a small miracle
if you'd like to try it, I'm facilitating a workshop this saturday with @craftmnl ! let's make sun prints together 🌞
