My first Mother’s Day looks nothing like I ever imagined… yet somehow it became more meaningful than I could have ever dreamed. Two months ago, my baby girl entered this world a month early and was taken from me immediately by emergency transport (with dad by her side) while I was still laying on the operating table. My warrior of a daughter intubated and fighting harder than anyone so tiny ever should have to. At just 5 days old, she underwent a 5 hour heart surgery (the longest 5 hours of my life). We lived in the CTICU surrounded by machines keeping her alive, monitors, fear, prayers, and hope. There were moments that broke me completely — moments I didn’t know how we would survive as mother and daughter. And now here we are - my arms & heart full holding your heartbeat again. Breathing on her own. Eating on her own. No feeding tube. Home together. Healing together. Living the life we prayed endlessly for. Motherhood has shown me a depth of love I never knew existed. A love that hurts, heals, sacrifices, protects, and never stops fighting. Watching my daughter overcome more in two months than most do in a lifetime has changed me forever. She is my greatest blessing, my strongest little warrior, and the greatest gift I have ever been given. This Mother’s Day, I hold her a little tighter and thank God for every breath, every smile, every sleepless night, and every ordinary moment that once felt impossible. From training him as a newborn to watching him thrive today, every moment has been a journey.
