Yesterday Y10 took a trip to WSP for an insight to construction and engineering. ๐ง
They had talks from engineers who work on the rail and tram lines, construction workers who work closely with the council for new builds and finished the day from bridge engineers where they were tasked to design their own bridge.

Yesterday, some of our Year 7 students took part in a BT Workshop as part of their computing lesson. They learnt how to repair a Gameboy, about electrical currents and how circuits go together inside a device.

Our Year 7 to Year 10 Debate Mate students competed against schools across Manchester throughout March. This experience has significantly enhanced their confidence and debating skills. The programme concluded with a visit to The University of Manchester, where students participated in the Debate Mate Cup. They also had the opportunity to watch expert โshow debates,โ gaining insight into high-level debating techniques. ๐ค
A special mention goes to Amelia in Year 10, who received an award for Most Improved Speaker โ a fantastic achievement and well deserved!๐๐ฃ๏ธ๐ฌ๐๏ธ

Last week, we rounded Schools Football Week off with a brilliant after-school community event as part of Happy Harpurhey, where our Year 10 leaders led activities for members of the local community (and gave our lots of stickers !!)

A group of Year 10 BTEC Sport students attended an Economics in Football trip yesterday at the University of Manchester, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. โฝ
During the visit, students explored the financial aspects of the upcoming FIFA World Cup, including the overall costs involved and the ongoing debate surrounding ticket pricing. They also developed their understanding of how football contributes to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and the wider economy, gaining valuable insight into the relationship between sport and economic activity as well as careers in the Economics industry.

Today, we had Alumni student Samira Al-Shafi talk to our Year 10 pupils about her Phd in Chemistry and her educational journey. We are really proud of all Samira has achieved, despite having setbacks and rejections she explained the importance of these and how they helped her to participate in summer schools at Oxbridge, receive a 1st class degree and has gain a place on a funded PHD which she is set to complete in 2028! It was an inspirational talk for all.
