I went to Brussels to visit ‘When We See Us’ curated by Koyo Kouoh🕊️and I loved how she took back the narrative of Black life -so often shaped by non-Black voices- from a Black perspective.The expo features works by Black artists from around the world over the past 100 years, organized around different themes chosen by the curator. I admired how it offers a powerful take on Black joy’s resilience and essence, shifting the focus away from trauma.
