One of the most incredible weeks of my life ⦠I met warm hearted, like-minded people who I am already excited to see again in 2 years.
Before I went, everyone told me that it was life changing and that thereās no other festival like it. I didnāt quite understand what they meant until I went myself.
The town Gulgong is quaint and celebrates clay for the entire week to support the festival. There is pottery on every corner, street and shop you come across.
There was an exhibition every other night. Iād never seen so much diverse pottery in my entire life. Every technique, every tool, every method under the sun was there.
I was surrounded by clay in every way. The 700 other people there were also ceramicists, so each chat turned into an exciting discussion about glazes. It was a total immersion into the world of clay.
Itās changed the way I see pottery ⦠how I perceive art, self expression, mastery over a craft. It showed me a world so large that I felt incredibly small in the most beautiful way possible. Like a tiny speck in a huge universe of knowledge and tradition.
Iām going back in 2028, and Iām going to bring as many people as I can with me because itās an experience like nothing else.
