Such an honor to photograph behind the scenes of @crowmedicine ’s latest video filmed at @brooklynartscenter . They are using their platform to speak out for much needed gun reform, and I have so much respect for all of them! . . . . #oldcrowmedicineshow #wilmingtonnc #commonsensegunlaws #wilmingtonphotographer #northcarolinaphotographer

“I don’t eat shellfish that time of year, but I’m also not trying to eat a tomato sandwich in January. I always say, eat in season — it’s good for a reason. You can taste the difference.” @wherewolfe1 @eastboundmagazine @mallorybcash This article brought me to tears today. Tears of pride and joy. The incredible feeling of being understood. Hard work pays off. Thank you friends. It’s the long term relationships that stick by my side that help me rise. @sunnygerhart_ @laurenkrallivey @sarahalexanderart @freerangejason @freerangebrew and all the other wonderful folks who keep my boats floating. Thank you @gardenandgun ⚓️🙏🏼 it is truly a privilege to be featured in your latest edition. Once my company @shellemseafoodco started gaining momentum - it was a personal goal to be included in your publication somehow…. I am blessed that the stars aligned! So thankful to work with your team, @worth.parker & @mallorybcash 🙏🏼 The illustrations are an extra special touch. Thank you for the recognition and celebration of the work I do. I’m so thankful for the team that helped assemble this article! It turns out hard work can lead to tangible rewards.

Next issue is hitting the streets next week. Look forward to at story, originally published by The Assembly, about how James and Sarah Doss of Rx Chicken & Oysters go spearfishing to catch the invasive lionfish. Then serve them at the restaurant. Writer Kevin Maurer and Madeline Gray goes out on the boat with them. Then Mallory Cash and I go into the kitchen to watch these colorful fish with venomous spines are turned into dinner.

yooo #artstigators , let’s give XL gratitude to this week’s takeover, photographer Mallory Cash (she/her) @mallorybcash , and her NC faves…🔦 🎙️ “I’m probably the least creative person I know, so surrounding myself with writers, painters, musicians, and photographers has really inspired me to start thinking more about what I want my work to say. Additionally, really listening to my kids and the way they view the world has fed my creativity in such beautiful ways. I'm so grateful for all of the photographers I've met in person and via instagram and how open they've been about sharing their work and processes. Just to name a few NC faves: Juli Leonard, Justin Cook, Jamie Kelter Davis, Kate Medley, Madeline Gray, Katie McTiernan, Chris Charles, Allison Joyce, Alex Boerner, Mehmet Demirci, Cornell Watson, Bax Miller, Chris Facey, Ben Brown, Matt Ramey, Kendrick Brinson, Jason Armond, Andrea Bruce, Anne Hubbard Hill, Jaclyn Auletta, Maxwell Design, William Paul Thomas, Billy Logan, Jennifer Ann Photography, Geoff Wood, Erin Austen Abbott, Anna Routh Barzin, Mike Belleme, Rachel Jessen, Amelia Caristo, Melissa Summers, Julia Wall, Peter Taylor, Shannon Whitworth, and so many others! As I continue to steer my career towards more photojournalism work, I'm constantly taken aback by the generosity of other photographers in NC. It feels like people are rooting for each other and that they understand how important it is to nurture community instead of gatekeeping opportunities.” 🕸️ mallorycashphoto.com 📲 Follow @mallorybcash 💌 Thank you, Mallory, for the honor of sharing your artstigatin’ with #artstigators

yooo #artstigators , this week’s takeover, NY born & Wilmington, NC-raised editorial and portrait photographer Mallory Cash (she/her) @mallorybcash , reveals her creative process and the images she captured on her first camera.…🔦 🎙️ “I'm really passionate about portraiture because of the intimacy and connection involved in both creating and viewing the portrait. When I'm photographing someone I spend a lot of time talking to them and observing them. I like to talk and ask questions while I'm taking photos and find that it relaxes most people and allows them to show me what their natural posture, facial expression, or movements are. I've been taking photos since my parents bought me a panoramic camera in fifth grade. I took that camera with me on my first airplane ride, and when I landed in California I took roll after roll of the Golden Gate Bridge, seals, the Disney store, pigeons, and anything that moved me. I remember opening the prints from Half-Hour Photo and seeing all of my visions on long, panoramic paper. I was enchanted. It didn't occur to me that photography could be a career, so I went to law school instead. After practicing law for a few years I "took a year off" to be home with my daughter. That was eight years ago. Since then I've had another daughter and have spent years practicing and learning about photography. I started my business six years ago, and it's been amazing to see where it's brought me.” 🕸️ mallorycashphoto.com 📲 Follow @mallorybcash 💌 Thank you, Mallory, for the honor of sharing your artstigatin’ with #artstigators
