Currently working through the design process for a University Food Hall concept and sharing some of the work behind the vision. From early floor plans and models to renderings and space planning, every project starts with exploring how people connect, move, and experience a space.
Thoughtful design begins long before construction, and we’re excited to continue developing ideas that help shape meaningful environments.

A few members of the Mallet team and their families were out at the Seattle Seawolves rugby match last weekend at Starfire Stadium. It was a great night all around with Dick’s burgers, the UW marching band, and a packed crowd that brought incredible energy to the game. Thank you to @CJP2720 for hosting us in the USI tent, and a big thank you to Anna and @cliff_burrows for letting us crash his table.

Recently completed in Bellevue: Clinic Medspa, a commercial tenant improvement designed and built by Mallet Design Build.
This project balances clinical functionality with a calm, welcoming environment through intentional material selection, lighting design, and thoughtful spatial flow. Every detail was developed to support both the patient experience and the operational efficiency of a modern medspa.
The result is a space that feels purposeful, composed, and highly functional while reflecting a clear design direction and a high level of execution throughout.
Great projects come down to great clients, and it was a pleasure working with Abby and Mina on this one.

20 Years. And the impact is immeasurable.
This Friday, April 10th, we celebrate a milestone that very few people reach and even fewer define the way she has. 20 years with Mallet.
Lisa joined us as a young professional, coming out of retail at Kenneth Cole, stepping into an administrative role. What she’s built since then is something entirely different. Over two decades, she has grown into a leader who now oversees accounting, HR, and IT development and, in many ways, helps run the organization alongside me. There is simply no version of this company that exists without her. She has shaped how we operate, how we communicate, how we care for our people, and how we hold things together when complexity inevitably shows up. Whether it’s a major operational challenge or a small, quiet moment when someone needs support, she is there. She is the steady hand, the problem solver, the listener, the one people trust. At the same time, she’s built a full life outside of work, raising two daughters who are now young women. Watching that parallel growth over the years has been just as meaningful. What stands out most is that she has never stopped improving, never stopped pushing herself to learn more, do better, and expand her capacity. That mindset has elevated all of us. There are people in organizations who contribute, and then there are people who hold them together. She is very much the latter, the glue in ways both visible and unseen. We are incredibly grateful for her and for everything she has given to Mallet over the past 20 years.
Here’s to the milestone and everything still ahead.
A shipping container—reconsidered.
The Surf Shack begins with a constrained, industrial form and transforms it into a refined, fully integrated living environment. Working within the limits of the container required a high level of discipline:
• A linear plan that maximizes livability
• Integrated storage and elevated sleeping
• Careful coordination of structure, insulation, and systems within tight tolerances
• A seamless extension into the exterior deck
What appears simple is the result of precise alignment between design and construction. This is where design-build proves its value, not in scale, but in control.

Mallet Design Build is leading the design of Brass, an upcoming steakhouse within the Harvest development in Woodinville. Working alongside their team has been a collaborative experience; every conversation informs thoughtful design choices that balance aesthetics with function. Our approach brings clarity and expertise to each decision, ensuring the space flows seamlessly from concept to completion. By focusing on intentional design and careful coordination, we’re helping create a restaurant that works beautifully for both the team and its guests.
Craftsmanship in the Details
At Mallet Design Build, the smallest architectural details often become the most meaningful elements of a home. For a current high-end residential project, our team is fabricating a custom metal shelving system designed specifically for the space it will inhabit. Fabricated in our in-house metal shop, the piece reflects the same attention to design, engineering, and craft that guides every project we undertake. The process begins long before fabrication. Early design collaboration, detailed shop drawings, and precise coordination ensure that every dimension, connection, and finish aligns with the architectural intent. Renderings allow the client to see the concept clearly before it moves into production.
From fabrication through installation, each step is executed with meticulous care. The result is more than a functional element; it becomes a refined architectural feature that reflects the value of thoughtful design, integrated process, and true craftsmanship.

Adaptive reuse often requires more than design. It calls for creative problem-solving across architecture, construction, and code interpretation. Our team at Mallet Design Build partnered with Town & Country Market to identify a viable path forward for a new Ballard market hall concept by navigating Seattle’s energy code and thermal envelope requirements through an integrated design-build approach. We are excited to see this vibrant extension of the Fieldhouse brand take shape.

We are excited to share the start of a new high-end modern residence in the Magnolia neighborhood. This is a ground-up project where we’ve handled the architecture and permitting, and now we’re officially breaking ground. While we specialize in new homes, we also take on remodels with the same level of care and detail. Construction will wrap up by the end of next summer, and we look forward to bringing you along with updates throughout the process.
