Inject, Rub, Put, Pray is a photobook about the beauty industry and the instructions that promise to make us a better version of ourselves.
The project is built around a series of self-portraits in which I recreate beauty tips from the internet — and as the project unfolds, the images become increasingly absurd. In much the same way, these recommendations themselves sound absurd to me.
The beauty industry often speaks about self-care, freedom, and confidence, but in reality it frequently produces a constant dissatisfaction with oneself and the feeling that you are never doing enough. I wanted to remind us that when self-improvement turns into a constant requirement, it becomes very easy to lose a sense of who you are.
I’m especially fond of the poster-format cover: on one side, my face; on the other, insane beauty instructions. Huge thanks to @cirek_ko for this brilliant design ❤️
