This is the best film I’ve worked on so far. I am really proud of the outcome…I traveled all the way to Egypt to do this in 2022, self funded ! Was even worried I couldn’t get it finished but it all came together. Today is my father’s birthday and grandmas birthday. My father Ras Mugabe transcended 1/12/21 he’d never been to Africa ever but studied it for decades…I wish we could watch this video together in flesh as I know he’d be astonished of my work but spiritually I do feel that he is proud and excited for all that I do, so I’ll just bask in gratitude knowing that. My Grandma Betty (his mom) is still alive (84) and I’m happy she gets to still witness life and all the advances taking place.

2019 I was booked to perform/ teach @waework in Shanghai, China for the “Music in China” convention hosted by my Dope bro @meyongkim and @hanflag_musical_instruments
I stayed for 2 weeks… Meyong and his crew/staff treated me like family, taking me all over and showing me how much they really love our American HBCU/ DCI marching percussion style. Unfortunately Meyong had passed away in 2022 due to an illness 😥 which broke my heart because the love was so real despite the cultural differences. Years before I even had a daughter, I understood and felt the power of father/daughter bond from seeing how he stood as a family man for his 🥹 his daughter called me “Uncle Ma”… she is much bigger now I’m sure and I hope they are doing well. Once again the power of the drum has allowed me to witness such a blessed life and create joyful memories with others all over the world. S/o grey wolf films for capturing some of these dope moments.
I have a lot more footage that I wanted to put in a vlog but I may just put it in my documentary that I’m starting soon.
