For me, the Netflix series Man on Fire is a tough sell, likely aimed at a generation removed from the 2004 film starring Denzel Washington. And yes, Denzel is a tough act to follow. With Tony Scott in the director’s chair, that’s a recipe for success. Now add Dakota Fanning, Christopher Walken, and the scene-stealing Mickey Rourke. And I can’t forget the beautiful Rachel Ticotin. Damn, she’s fine. I’m not saying not to watch the Netflix series; I am saying maybe you should revisit Tony Scott’s 2004 film, Man on Fire, starring Denzel Washington. -m
The Riddle family went to the movies! Six IMAX tickets to see Michael were worth the price of admission. And connecting with strangers after the film to share our emotional experience proves that the King of Pop still brings people together. I spent yesterday on the road visiting accounts with Will Hoppes, the second generation of the Hoppes family, leading Fidélitas Red Mountain Washington Wines into the future. Will’s father, Charlie, is a dear friend, and we’ve known each other for 20 years, give or take (we can’t remember). Charlie and I logged many hours and miles on the road together. Like all proud fathers, I’ve heard many stories about his family, especially Will. Yesterday with Will was one of those full-circle moments. I am honored and thankful to be connected with the Hoppes family and Fidélitas wines.
P.S. When you spend 9 hours in a car with me, we may talk about Blade Runner, Michael Mann movies, specifically Heat, Thief, and Collateral, along with Eddie Murphy and Rick James.
