Dug deep in my phone to find scenes from Finding My Way to pair with amazing reviews from readers. I read every single one of your reviews — from the heartfelt to the hilarious — and cannot thank you enough for sharing them!  Also I’m SUPER excited that Finding My Way is a nominee for the 2025 Goodreads Choice Awards! If you loved the book, it would mean so much to me to have your vote 🩷

Finding My Way is officially a New York Times Bestseller! 🩷 I wrote this book about the loneliest time in my life, when what I wanted more than anything was to feel like I belonged in the world around me. Every night on the book tour, someone asks me “How do I make friends?” I want to give each of them a hug and tell them not to worry, that one day they will find the people who see them and love them as they are. If my book has helped you feel less alone, that’s what matters most to me. I can’t thank you enough for reading, sharing and believing in this book. Thank you for finding your way with me 💫 📸: @ye.fan

We are so proud that Champions of the Golden Valley is nominated for an Emmy! This remarkable film is now streaming globally for free, thanks to @olympics ⛷️ In the remote mountains of Afghanistan, Alishah Farhang and the brave skiers of Bamyan build their own skis and create a culture of possibility from the ground up. Watching these young athletes glide down a mountain reveals how joy can coexist with hardship, and how sport becomes language, connection and liberation. 🏆 Directed by Ben Sturgulewski, produced by Katie Stjernholm & Baktash Ahadi, executive producers @arianmoayed and @malala , @championsdoc has won more than 50 awards at film festivals worldwide, and is now nominated for a Sports Emmy for Outstanding Documentary! 🎬 If you are looking for a true story that inspires hope, humanity and courage, head to Olympics.com to watch the film!

Back in beautiful Edinburgh! Last week I visited James Gillespie’s High School and talked with their incredible students. I also met Afghan medical students who were studying to become doctors when the Taliban closed their classrooms. They are here now, finishing their education, because Scotland welcomed them. Thank you Edinburgh for a wonderful day! 💙

Five years in exile. Five years of refusing to be erased. Yesterday, FIFA officially recognized the Afghanistan Women’s National Team! Ever since the Taliban banned women from sport in 2021, these players have been fighting for the right to compete. This week, they won — thanks to the tireless efforts of Khalida Popal, Fatima Yousufi and many other advocates around the world. Congratulations to this amazing team! I can’t wait to see you back on the field 🇦🇫⚽

Happy birthday to my parents, Toor Pekai and Ziauddin! Were they born on the same day? Probably not. My mom does not have a birth certificate and doesn’t know her exact age. When she needed to fill in her details on passport application years ago, my dad decided to share his birthday, April 20, with her. Personally I’ve always thought she has more Scorpio than Taurus energy (iykyk 🙃), but I’m grateful to have a day to celebrate two remarkable people who have given me so much love 💗
