All’inizio di questa settimana, insieme ad alcuni ragazzi del master @designfor_kids e dei Laboratori di Sintesi Finale P2 e I1, abbiamo avuto il piacere di partecipare al Toy Design Factor, all’interno della fiera Toys & Baby Milano 2026, organizzato in collaborazione con @assogiocattoli e @theplayful.living . È stata un’occasione preziosa per presentare al mondo del giocattolo i nostri progetti, confrontarci con professionisti del settore e vivere momenti di crescita, ispirazione e condivisione. Portare idee, ricerca e design in un contesto così stimolante è sempre un’esperienza speciale! 🧸✨ — At the beginning of this week, together with some students from the master @designfor_kids and the P2 and I1 final synthesis Labs, we had the pleasure of taking part in Toy Design Factor, during the Toys & Baby Milano 2026 fair, organized in collaboration with @assogiocattoli and @theplayful.living . It was a valuable opportunity to showcase our projects to the toy industry, connect with professionals in the field, and experience moments of growth, inspiration, and exchange. Exploring new material directions. This project update focuses again on Fiber2Filament and the development of Velourplastby the @making_materials team. An innovative material designed to take shape through additive manufacturing, transforming fiber-based resources into circular products. Through 3D printing processes, Velourplast enables the creation of flexible, functional forms while maintaining a strong focus on material circularity. By aligning material innovation with advanced manufacturing, the project opens new possibilities for scalable, low-waste production systems. Exploring material performance and scalability! This project update focuses on the making of Fiber2Filament. Through extrusion tests and additive manufacturing trials, the material is evaluated in its transition from raw fiber to filament and printed output. Each step investigates process stability, behavior, and consistency. From extrusion flows to printed samples, the goal is to assess the material’s potential for industrial transferability—bridging experimentation with scalable production. Take a look inside FIBER2FILAMENT, one of the experimental tracks now approaching completion within our Lab. This pilot has focused on the definition and validation of recovery and fabrication processes starting from pre-consumer textile waste — turning discarded materials into new resources for design and production. Through extensive sample fabrication, the team has explored and combined different manufacturing techniques, including: 🔧 Extrusion 🧩 Injection (where applicable) 🖨️ Additive manufacturing (FDM) 🔥 Thermo-pressing By integrating these processes, FIBER2FILAMENT is contributing to the development of scalable pathways for transforming waste into functional materials and components. The results achieved so far represent a significant step toward more circular and efficient production systems in the fashion and textile sector.
