LOOK 4 • BON BON
Bon Bon is a showgirl. She has achieved her dreams of fame, fortune, and glamour, but the industry has her in chains bound by contracts and secrets. Bon Bon is torn between her love of performance and having true autonomy over her own life. This look represents the exploitation of artists driven by the lies of big business.
Bon Bon began with the matching bralette and waist corset. The set was originally upcycled back in 2023 for a tik tok musical artist collaboration that never ended up happening. The set was part of a full stage performance look, inspired by a vintage lampshade. The lampshade was meant to be worn as a hat, and paired with a black bubble skirt and babydoll leg earrings. The hair bows and gloves were designed for her bandmates to wear in unison. Once the collaboration fell through, these pieces lived in the back of my closet for the next 2 years, until I pulled them back out this year to update for the runway.
To make the pieces 𝔖𝔥𝔞𝔱𝔱𝔢𝔯𝔢𝔡 𝔉𝔞𝔟𝔩𝔢 ready, I removed the plastic pearls from the bra, and created a lace maxi skirt with a hand cut hem to layer underneath the bubble mini.
@sarah.snapdragons custom made the feather headdress & styled the look with her personal jewelry designs (FULL Sarah Donnelly collection coming in the future…)
The first time
@kaidashova_m tried on this look during our promo shoot for the event
@carnivalechi , it became hers. She brought the vision to life: a match made in fashion heaven, and no way was anyone else going to walk it down the runway like she could.
