RETRO RESILIENCE: The 70’s Housewife Reimagined | @lucysmagazine
[ Part 2 ] The concept for this series began with inspiration from the classic film The Stepford Wives and evolved into a deeper narrative centered on a 1970s housewife archetype. This character has grown children who have left the home, while her husband is frequently absent, always “working.” Her daily life is a meticulous yet lonely routine—she cleans an already spotless home, monitors her weight, bakes for an empty household, returns from grocery trips to solitude, argues on the phone with her husband, dines alone, constantly forgets items in her 1977 Mercedes, and obsessively watches her neighbors, all while maintaining a glamorous image. Her story crescendos as she sits on the floor, savoring a piece of her freshly baked cake, while her “happy pills” (or perhaps a psychotic break) take hold.
