This image is a glimpse into our latest collaboration with @paulmacspecial and @clairegarveydesigner_ — two artists I’ve followed from early on and dreamed of creating with. And now here we are. Where headpiece, couture, and concept fused into something dark, theatrical, and a little otherworldly. I’m going to take a few quiet days to step back and breathe… but I couldn’t not share this from yesterday’s shoot. When it turns out your bestie is actually a swamp demon… just casually vacationing in your house 🐸🖤 She said she needed “a little reset” I didn’t realise that meant summoning the ancestral bog spirits in our bathroom. Now the tub is black. The mirror fog writes back. And my loofah is… missing. I don’t want to know. She’s in there like: “don’t come in, I’m exfoliating” BABE THAT IS NOT EXFOLIATION THAT IS A RITUAL. Came out glowing though. Skin? Flawless. Hair? Wet. Always wet. Energy? Ancient. Damp. Slightly threatening. She keeps opening windows at night “to let the swamp breathe” ??? Pretty dresses don’t always tell pretty stories. As promised... dialling up the grotesque for our insane collaboration with the incredible @clairegarveydesigner_ .. When I first saw this dress, my mind went straight to Marie Antoinette. The opulence. The theatre. The powdered perfection. And also… the rot beneath it. Long before this project came to my life, I’d already been sketching out a series inspired by that era. Not the polished portraits we’re used to, but the uncomfortable truth behind them. The towering wigs that hid sores, lice, and decay. The immaculate gowns masking illness, infection, and the very real cost of “beauty” in a time obsessed with appearances. So when I was invited to photograph this piece for Claire Garvey’s first solo exhibition at the end of this month, it felt like fate quietly tapping me on the shoulder. This dress carries the elegance of the era effortlessly, but it also gave me space to explore the contrast I’m so drawn to. Beauty and grotesque. Gold and grime. Control and collapse. This version leans into that tension. A gilded scream beneath silk and lace. Because history wasn’t clean, no matter how beautifully it dressed itself. Seeing this dress in person is a full-body experience. The scale, the weight, the detail… it demands your attention before it gives up its secrets. This is Version I of a Botticelli-inspired gown created by Claire Garvey for her exhibition. The level of craftsmanship is extraordinary. Layers upon layers of hand-worked textures, materials, and symbolism come together in a piece that feels closer to an artefact than a garment. When I choose models, it’s never just about aesthetics. It’s about resonance. About pairing presence with story. There was no one more fitting for this piece than Patsy Pleasure. She didn’t simply wear the dress, she gave it stillness, strength, and breath. And for those of you wondering… Yes, we did create a darker, stranger version of this piece. A more unsettling interpretation. It’s coming.
