Skin care is arguably the most important step in my makeup application.
Regardless of who’s in my chair or what look they want to achieve, these products truly NEVER let me down.
✨ Every client gets a skin evaluation & consult to tailor the complexion to them.
We’ll discuss how makeup typically wears, any texture concerns, allergies or sensitivities (don’t overlook this one!), and skin type.
✨ Gentle Exfoliating Pads - I prefer
@firstaidbeauty as they’re great for all skin types.
These are especially great if the client has applied self tan to their face/neck.
✨ Hydrating Toner - it’s important to add hydration back to the skin after exfoliation. Using a product like
@thayers milky toner will help set up any clients skin for success (thanks for this one
@shelbyannbell 😉).
✨ Moisturizer - this is where things get personal. Depending on the clients skin type & concerns, I’ll use one or multiple of these products (only where needed!)
•
@charlottetilburyskincare Magic Water Cream - unscented, 24 hr hydration, plumps skin
•
@danessamyricksbeauty Water Powder Serum - great for clients who lean on the oily side, this adds hydration while also mattifying and minimizing the appearance of pores
•
@macpro Hyper Real Serumizer - may be added into the moisturizer for an extra boost of hydration, great for mature clients
•
@aquaphor lip balm stick - seriously, this is a GAME CHANGER around eyes & smile lines to minimize creasing
✨ Lip Masks are always the last step before makeup application. I’ve carried the Smith’s rosebud salve in my kit for years! By the time I do lips at the very end, the clients lips are perfectly primed for a long wearing lip combo

Remember: Makeup is only as good as the skin prep underneath!
I know it’s fun to have a 20 step skin care routine, but keep it simple before makeup & only apply what’s best for your clients specific needs.
